Oh yeah. I also had this broken PC Engine Duo that I bought CIB for 100€. Fixed it at last.

1. I recapped it. It wouldn't boot.
2. I reflowed the memory and main chips with hot air. Then it started to boot.
3. The laser was broken. I replaced it with a new one and left it because I wasn't into tweaking the laser potentometers..4 But because I had success last night I started to continue tweaking the Duo. And with eye and ear it succeeded.

Well. Got that PC Engine thing. Of course the CD-drive didn't work.
It had the normal problem that the middle gear was broken (in this case missing). So I just changed a new one and also replaced the old grease with new one. Did it work? No.

I wasn't gonna continue with this thing last night, but at 1am I opened a tweak-beer and started to tweak the laser pots

And here we are...

I bought this used Pansonic Q with the box and everything about a year ago. It had the typical defect that the DVD drive plastic had crumbled over time and the flat cables were broken. Well, I got the plastic frames 3d printed and replaced and new flat cables. It seems to play music discs and recognize that the movie DVD and Gamecube games are the wrong region code. More testing when I get some Japanese Gamecube games.

Well the Pac S1-module that I got for my Laser Active had the normal problem with leaked caps. Didn't work so I did what one has to do. Open it up, remove caps, fix broken traces (urgh) and install new traces. Now it works and I can enjoy it fully.

I took a risk and bought a Japanese computer from Japan with an integrated monitor. They sold it at a 20% of its real price with the message that "This is broken and doesn't work."

Well, I turned it on and it worked. The screen contrast and brightness were just set in such a way that the screen was black.

This is going to be a good weekend.

Getting more stuff at the beginning of next week. Look for it.
