Atiavi-Glime Installs Two Ɣetsofe Clan Chiefs in a Historic Ceremony
Atiavi-Glime, one of the 36 states of the Anlo Traditional Area and a vibrant community within the Keta District of Ghana’s Volta Region, witnessed a significant cultural and traditional event as two new chiefs of the Ɣetsofe Clan were enstooled. The colorful ceremony took place at Dzogbe, drawing community members, elders, and dignitaries from across the region.
The two newly installed chiefs are Torgbi Hatsu V and Torgbi Tsili V, both of whom were selected to uphold the customs and leadership responsibilities of the Ɣetsofe Clan. Their enstoolment marks a continuation of a long-standing tradition that ensures the preservation of Anlo cultural heritage, unity, and communal leadership.
The solemn and spiritually significant oath-swearing ceremony was conducted under the auspices of the Amugo Vego Traditional Council, which oversees customary rites and chieftaincy installations in the area. The oaths were administered by respected traditional leaders, including Torgbi Akaba VII of Anyako, Torgbi Dzadu IV of Tsiame, and Torgbi Agbeti IV of Anyako, who all played critical roles in affirming the legitimacy and authority of the newly enstooled chiefs.
The event was attended by traditional rulers, opinion leaders, youth, and members of the Ɣetsofe Clan, who celebrated the occasion with drumming, dancing, and traditional libations. The enstoolment was not only a cultural milestone but also a call to unity, progress, and continuity of indigenous leadership in the community.
The two chiefs, in their maiden addresses, pledged to uphold justice, foster development, and serve their people with dedication and humility. They also called for cooperation from all members of the clan and surrounding communities to ensure peace and prosperity.
