On this day in 2002, Superstar Limo in Disneyland closed FOREVER! 🚗📸
After debuting with the park on February 8, 2001, Superstar Limo quietly closed for good at Disney California Adventure. The ride lasted less than a year and earned a reputation as one of Disney’s worst attractions! 😬
It was the park’s only dark ride at opening, promising Hollywood satire and celebrity cameos. Expectations were sky-high… but many guests left confused, wondering where the Disney magic had gone. While a small group appreciated the industry jokes and cartoon chaos, most didn’t and Disney quickly made a change!
The attraction was reimagined as Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! The new ride officially opened on January 23, 2006, more than four years after Superstar Limo had quietly closed. The original limo ride vehicles were repainted as Monstropolis taxi cabs, while the track layout itself remained completely unchanged.
