In conflicts, truths and lies are commodities rather than gray scales or absolute perspectives.

The Shan state is located in Eastern Myanmar, in the Golden Triangle a region generating billions of dollars through its illicit economy. Ethnic groups in Shan state are reclaiming independence from Myanmar that was promised them since the constitution came into effect in 1948, and the country gained independence from British Empire.

In my latest episode, I interviewed the chief liaison officer of the most notorious o***m king in Shan state, Khun Sa. Allegedly responsible for over 60% of all the he**in imported in the U.S. in the 90s, Khun Sa used o***m to finance the Shans' fight for independence from Myanmar (Burma), which ended up attracting the attention of the DEA from the United States.

However, the figure of Khun Sa is layered and controversial, as well as the real motivations of the U.S. in remaining in the region.

In less than 15 minutes, the video I just posted explores the hypocrises of all the sides involved in the conflict, the history behind Shan struggle, and the role of o***m in fueling the kingdom of Khun Sa.

HERE WE GO: The photographs of the project "Until It’s Our Time" by our photographer and author Marco Rubegni will be exhibited during the performance by pianist Margin Alexander to be held tomorrow, Thursday 30 June, in Brooklyn, NYC.

We seemed to have forgotten what it meant to look at each other, touch and care for others, share a moment and smile back.

Yet, once again, our need for humanity has led us to draw closer again, to throw off the mask and fill the gap that was our only salvation for the past two years.

As brothers and sisters, we ran to meet each other, we waited a long time for that embrace. But here we are again, together, dreaming and building a new reality.

A new world, a new spring.

We were guests of a multicultural event with the Indian community in collaboration with the cultural association “Stanza delle Genti” coordinated by Maristella Perlini.

We had the chance to talk about India, inclusion and humanity. And it is precisely on humanity that we base our mission, on that humanity that is part of our heritage, that with its differences unites us more than anything else.

It's a light in the dark. And we are that light, distant people but never so close.

Those who don't talk much have their minds full of thoughts.
Joyce is reserved most of the time. She speaks carefully but with an expression that makes it easy to understand how trained she is in formulating her thoughts.

In an environment like that of Accra, the attitude of highly educated people is easily recognizable, it collides with the impulsive behavior of the society.

Joyce keeps her power hidden behind her gentle and conservative way of life. In her gaze, willpower leads her to achieve a new step toward her dream.

It's 6 in the morning.
Except for the walks of a few wild dogs, none are on the dirt road in the middle of the outskirts of Kumasi.

Fatima starts many people's day.
A man in a suit with his briefcase, a schoolgirl and his pink uniform, an elderly man and his back hunched forward.

People arrive with blank faces.
Most of them leave smiling.

A step into the bus, you take your seat.

Across the aisle, a woman sits with her glasses flashing in front of the darkness, reflecting a purple neon-lit cabin.

She turns and your eyes meet each other before you both start smiling for no apparent reason.

You've never met her before but at that moment, she seems to know you more than anyone else.

Unexpected encounters are what we live for, those moments that catch you off guard, unprepared, and that makes you move forward.
