The team who got us through 2025 ✨

We have been so blessed to work with so many wonderful people during our 5 years in business. Each year we get to collaborate with different editors, designers, formatters, illustrators, etc.

Here are a few who helped carry our manuscripts through to perfection in 2025 🥂

It wouldn’t be a proper reflection without some lessons learned and goals for the future though, would it?

While change was a huge part of 2025 for me personally, we learned it can be a beautiful thing in business too!

We pivoted this year with new branding, dropped some services, and honed in our what we love to do and with whom we love to work!

(Shout out to Samara at .bortz for the much needed mentorship at a crucial pivot point!)

We are thrilled for the new year and look forward to working with new stories, new authors, and helping you find your new favorite book 📚

2025 recap 🪩

After a wonderful break for the holidays, we’re ready to get back to work!

But first, some reflections on the past year!
Meraki had some big shifts as my life had some surprise plot twists!

We welcomed a new baby at the end of 2024 which meant I started 2025 on maternity leave until February!

We published 3 books this year: a devotional, a children’s book, and a middle grade fantasy book!

Halfway through the year, we got word that my husband was accepted to medical school 🎉 so we traveled from PA ✈️ LA!

And now we are expecting our second baby this Easter 🤍

This year has looked very different than years past.
In the past, it was go go go. But with this season change, (family + moving) I’m becoming more intentional and choosier about which stories align with Meraki’s values and allow our team to pour into them completely!

We are so proud of all our authors, and to the ones yet to publish, we can’t wait to see you soar 🪽

Building Complex Villains: Why Your Antagonist Deserves more Depth! 🦹🏻‍♂️

Ever read a villain who was just bad for no reason? Just evil and yucky and thwarts your main character’s goals for no reason than evil doing?

It’s kinda lame…

Now think about some of the best villains you’ve ever read - think about how they’re evil but some backstory unfolds of the injustice they experienced that hardens them. You low key love it and root for a smudge of redemption right?

Or maybe their vigilante-super villain gets to explore a sense of justice in a morally gray way… either way that depth is what a reader craves!
