1-2: Merry People hosted an AWESOME event in Seattle where we got to make our own flower bouquets 💐
3-4: Biggie got to return to hiking after 9 weeks rest due to his injury 🥹
5: Biggie turned 1! We celebrated by getting him some Frozen Yogurt 🍦
6-7: The Lumineers concert, so so good!
8: Hozier concert, phenomenallll!
9: Gatsbys been filling in for Biggie at our weekly agility classes and have been rocking it!
10: My sister came to visit and I took her up to Vancouver for her first time leaving the country!
11: The boysss! Yeti likes to join me when I train the dogs 🤣
12-14: Gatsby’s journey to his summer haircut, I left him way too long and he already needs another one LOL

What was the highlight of your August?

We haven’t been hiking yet this summer..

I feel transparency and authenticity is really important which is why i’m sharing this. Last summer we did over 20 hikes and I have yet to do any this summer. Between my robbery in the winter and Biggies injury recently, I’ve definitely been in a calm and quiet period of time. We walk around 3 miles every day and have been going to the lake several times a week and spending tons of time outside. It just looks a little different this year!

And that’s okay! Life changes and things adapt. Hoping to enter my hiking era again soon 🥾 For now, enjoy this throwback!

Bigfoot Health Update ❤️‍🩹

Unfortunately, Biggie tore his CCL a couple weeks back. We’ve been in and out of vets offices trying to get a diagnosis and come up with a treatment plan. Since he’s only 10 months old and his growth plates are still open, we have some limitations on treatments. I am thinking this will likely lead to him having to get a TPLO surgery, but for now we are on week 4 of 10 of strict rest.

This is obviously NOT something I ever thought could happen to my little perfect puppy and it has been a very emotional process. I will keep everyone up to date as we have more updates.

If you could go on a roadtrip anywhere in the during the season of your choosing where would it be and when? 👀

For me, I think I’d choose a New England road trip in the fall! I’ve always wanted to explore that area more.

I didn’t realize how much I needed to unplug until I was forced to by having no service ✨

What things do you do to keep yourself present and keep your screen time down?

In all honesty, this is something I struggle with on a daily basis, especially since my work is centered around my phone and social media. I notice big differences in my energy on the days I spend a lot of time in front of a screen vs the days my screen time is minimal. One of the things that’s helped me unplugged from my phone is reading. It’s a nice relaxing activity that I can do pretty much anywhere that replaces a screen. Camping of course is a great activity to unplug and connect with nature, I always leave camping feeling more refreshed and having more mental clarity.

If i’m being honest, getting outside has looked a whole lot like this for us lately and less of these grand adventures.

While I love to pump out these beautiful outdoorsy photos and videos, it can get exhausting. Nature has always felt very healing to me but i’ve been putting too much pressure on myself to get back into strenuous and crazy hikes. I just have not been feeling it since dealing with the overwhelming PTSD of my carjacking. That’s okay though. You can still appreciate the outdoors in your own backyard and doing activities outside at whatever capacity you’re able to.

You can be outdoorsy without having to climb mountains.

Unpopular opinion… Redwood National Park is CONFUSING! There’s not a distinct entrance and the Redwood trees are quite scattered throughout the park. We spent two days here and I think I could have been okay with only one day.

Have you been to Redwood National Park? If so, what are your thoughts on it?

Off on another snowshoeing adventure tomorrow 🌨️

An important thing to note before going out to do any winter activities is checking the avalanche risk in your area! If you’re doing winter activities in Washington, the Northwest Avalanche Center () came out with an app called Avy that is fantastic for checking avalanche risks in Washington. Caitlynn () also showed me how her Beacon from works which was really cool and something i’m considering investing in. I also am considering getting a Garmin In Reach Mini ( ) for general hiking safety.
