¿Qué pasa cuando tres artistas se niegan a esperar permiso para existir en el mundo del arte?

En 2009, Ibeth Lara Pazmiño, Tania Lombeida Miño y Pamela Pazmiño Vernaza se graduaron de una escuela de arte donde la historia que aprendieron fue escrita completamente por hombres, donde las artistas eran invisibles, y donde se necesitaba un padrino para que su trabajo se exhibiera. En lugar de aceptar estas reglas, crearon la Colectiva La Emancipada y construyeron su propia plataforma: Arte Mujeres Ecuador.

Quince años después, han realizado exposiciones innovadoras, creado la única plataforma artística feminista de Ecuador, realizado investigaciones que demuestran la desigualdad de género sistémica en las instituciones culturales de su país, y siguen luchando por un reconocimiento básico y un espacio para mostrar su trabajo.

Esta es una historia sobre lo que realmente cuesta transformar un sistema artístico patriarcal desde adentro, contada por tres mujeres que han elegido la solidaridad sobre la visibilidad, la comunidad sobre las credenciales y la revolución sobre el reconocimiento. Su trabajo ha abierto puertas para cientos de mujeres artistas, pero como van a escuchar, esas puertas no permanecen abiertas por sí solas.

Season 3 is here!
Gestoras is thrilled to announce the launch of our Season 3 premiere—out today!

This special episode marks our first-ever live recording, held in front of an audience at the 2024 Association of Arts Administration Educators Conference at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

We had the honor of speaking with María Cristina Gaztambide, Director of the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, and Raquel Vázquez Varela, Executive Director of Teatro Público and Events & Communications Coordinator at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón.
(Fun fact: this session won the Best Presentation Award at the conference!)
