The conference opened with welcoming remarks from Fr. Daniel Franklin E. Pilario and Opening Remarks from Dr. Joel Joseph S. Marciano Jr. The morning session, โSpace Science and Astronomy for Development,โ featured insights from physicists like Dr. Reinabelle C. Reyes, who lectured about a "star-gazing and space-faring Philippines," and Dr. Randi-Louis Ballouz, who discussed near-Earth asteroid encounters and planetary defense.
Talks on space situational awareness, cybersecurity in emerging space nations, and the use of CubeSats for education highlighted how space science is becoming an essential part of national development.
Later that afternoon, the theme shifted to โOutreach and Education.โ From Ma. Rosario C. Ramosโ discussion on PAGASAโs astronomical services to Mr. Anthony Guillier E. Urbanoโs presentation on low-cost satellite antennae, the speakers showcased how space science can empower local communities and educational institutions.

On the second day, the conference took us to the far reaches of the universe with discussions focused on astronomy and astrophysics. Gamma-ray Transients Monitor (GTM) onboard Formosat-8B, delivered by Mr. Hsiang-Kuang Chang, Christopher Goโs insights into how citizen scientists can contribute meaningfully to planetary research. Mr. Christiper Go lectured about a lesson on jupiterโs planetary discoveries and scientific reseaechers. Also a talk from Ms. Kristine Jane Atienza about space nutrition and analog astronauts in the Philippines.
In the final sessions, the keynote speakers talked about black holes, protoplanetary disks, and the search for extraterrestrials topics.
Being part of this national event was truly life-changing.
As a student from San Lorenzo Ruiz SHS, it was an honor to connect with people who are actively building the future of Philippine space science. I left the conference not only with a notebook full of insights and inspiration but with a heart full of dreams.
This experience taught me that space is not just for astronauts or scientists in other countriesโitโs for Filipinos, too. With passion, education, and collaboration, we can be leaders in space research, innovation, and exploration.
