Been a while since Farmer Frugala posted anything, folks! Almost all the seed starts are in the ground, and I’ve started my tomatoes… for the third time this season. 😅🍅 Now that I know I can grow a happy tomato start in about 4 weeks I should have a much better time with starts next season, lol.
I will pull together a garden tour sometime this month, as I’m really proud of the progress made this year! Hard but rewarding work. And who needs a gym membership when you’re hauling mulch and squatting to pull weeds? 😂 I nearly fell asleep in the hammock on my lunch break today; it was lovely out, and nice to have a view with some of the perennial and annual plants starting to really pop up! 🧡

🌱 Pretty sure we have 100% germination on all the tomato seeds this year! 🍅 It *smells* like tomatoes, now that these have their first true leaves. I’m contemplating bottom feeding with a liquid organic fertilizer this year…

First; my sweet little boy is home and well! My husband and I have been settling into our new roles as mama & daddy. 🧡
Second; since I’ve shared & celebrated my prenatal bump, I want to do the same for my 2 week postpartum bump. 🥰
This squishy belly symbolizes the journey my baby and I have been through, and I’m so grateful for the experience. It’s a trip how much your body changes in pregnancy, and so quickly—in 41 weeks I built a whole human. I know there’s no going back to the body I had before I grew him, there’s no logic in that. “Bounce back” culture is so prevalent and toxic, and pre-pregnancy I fielded my fair share of inappropriate commentary about my body (it’s uncomfortable to be scrutinized whether it’s because one is thin or not). I’m posting here to loudly refuse to engage with bounce-back culture, and so I have something to come back to on days that leave me insecure. My body is a new kind of beautiful as she’s recovering from the coolest thing she’s ever done. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have bigger fish to fry, and joy to savor. What I (and all mamas) deserve are reminders that I am (we are) enough—more than enough. 🙌🏻

✨ My doula captured these incredible labor and delivery moments as my favorite person came into this world (to Fleetwood Mac, because he knows his mama’s spooky). 🧡
💪🏻 I had an empowering birthing experience thanks to my beautiful husband, nurturing sister, the calmly kickass Sanctuary Birth Doula, the environment and culture of Minnesota Birth Center, and the most fun & authentic Lamaze class at birthED. The past 9+ months have left me with a new appreciation for my body and what incredible work she does; courtesy of the assurances and knowledge offered by these resources. 💗
👶🏻 It was a pleasure to grow you, baby boy, and an even greater pleasure to meet you. 🥰
💙 Baby boy has been in the NICU due to a case of PPHN but is on the home stretch. I’m choosing to keep his name and photos of him private, since the internet is a wild place, but I assure you he is precious. 🥹
