As mothers and oftentimes primary caregivers, we get so lost in school checklists , meal planning, cleaning, and scheduling that we lose ourselves a little bit - and these are little reminders that we don't need to be everything all the time.

I don't know if it's just me, but I approached motherhood from a very sacrificial place for about six months, and it nearly killed me. I really lost myself in the throughs of it, and I could feel myself slipping.

I don't think we talk about how motherhood just really shatters your sense of self, and not necessarily in a doomsday kind of way, but an entire priority shift kind of way. You have to get to know yourself all over again.

Without taking a moment to re-prioritize myself, I would, without a doubt, not be a good mom. Remembering that I'm a person first before I'm a mom, and that small distance is important.
