Ready for the darkest show on Earth? 🌌❄️

📸 by:

On Svalbard, the sun has now disappeared below the horizon, and won’t return until 16 February. That’s around 112 (!!) days without sunlight! They’re the first place in Norway to lose the sun, and the very last to get it back again 🤯🇳🇴

For now, the days turn deep blue, stars shine 24/7, and the Northern Lights can dance even in the middle of the day. Soon, the mainland in Northern Norway will follow, as the Arctic slowly slips into its long winter night 🌠✨

How would you survive without sunlight for that long?👇

Winter is arriving in Lofoten ❄️🍂

📸 by: .kassner

The islands are changing fast now. Autumn colors still glow on the mountains, but the first snow has started to fall on the peaks. Golden light mixes with frost, and the air feels sharper every day. It’s that short, magical time when two seasons meet: when autumn and winter blend together in the Arctic 🌄✨

The days are getting shorter, the nights darker, and the Northern Lights brighter. Soon, the mountains will be fully covered in snow, and Lofoten will step into its winter dream.

Lofoten in autumn? A whole new world👇

📸 by:

While summer gets the spotlight, fall is when Lofoten slows down. It gets quieter, moodier, and in our opinion even more beautiful 🤩

The soft golden light paints the mountains in fiery reds and oranges, while the crowds fade away. You’re left with space to explore, capture the shifting light, or simply enjoy a slow coffee in a rorbu as waves crash outside.

Save this for your next trip, and tag the one you’d bring with you 🤩👯

In Norway, it’s super common to head to a cabin for the weekend. Many families have their own, often hidden away in the mountains, by a lake, or deep in the forest. It’s a way to get out of the city, slow things down, and just enjoy the quiet. Some of these places there’s no Wi-Fi, sometimes no running water, and that’s kind of the point. People go to hike, play cards, chop wood, or just sit by the fire. It’s a simple life, and that’s what makes it special. For many Norwegians, the cabin isn’t just a place, it’s a tradition. A break from everyday life 🫶🏼

“Norway in Miniature” – Welcome to SENJA👇🏼

📸 by:

High mountains, white sand beaches, dramatic fjords, and stunning coastal roads. Senja is often called “Norway in miniature” because it captures everything that makes this country special, all on one island.

Located just south of Tromsø, Senja is quieter than Lofoten but just as striking. And the best part? You can experience it often without the big crowds.

Here are some tips for your Senja adventure:

🚗 Drive the National Tourist Route. This is one of Norway’s most scenic roads. Don’t miss stops like Bergsbotn, Tungeneset, and Ersfjord Beach.
🥾 Go hiking! Easy options like Hesten give you views over iconic Segla, while trails like Husfjellet or Keipen offer wide panoramas across sea and mountain.
🌌 Visit in autumn or winter? Senja is a fantastic place to catch the northern lights, it’s far from city lights and often full of wild, open skies.
🐋 Keep your eyes on the sea! Whales are often spotted off the coast, especially between November and January.

Whether you’re roadtripping, hiking, or chasing auroras, Senja is pure Arctic magic.

Traveling to Lofoten this Autumn? Don’t forget this!👇🏼

📸 by:

Autumn might just be Lofoten’s best-kept secret. The crowds are gone, the air is crisp, and the landscape explodes in shades of orange, red, and gold. You still get those iconic mountain views, just with more peace and better light for photography.

But fall in the Arctic means quick changes. One day it’s sunny and still, the next it’s stormy and wild.

🧥 Bring layers, a good mix of wool, windproof, and waterproof gear is key.
🎒 Many places are still open, but some cafés, cabins and ferries reduce hours, always double-check.
🚗 Rental cars are usually cheaper this time of year, and traffic is lighter, perfect for roadtripping!
📷 Golden hour hits different in the north, the low sun gives warm, dreamy light almost all day.
🌌 And yes, this is the start of northern lights season, so bring a tripod and keep an eye on the forecast 👀

Hiking in Norway? 4 things you NEED to be aware of⛰️👇🏼
1. Weather changes fast! Even on sunny days, the weather can turn in minutes. Always bring layers, rain gear, and check the forecast before heading out ☁️🌧️
2. No phone signal📲 Many mountain areas don’t have coverage. Download offline maps and let someone know your plans before you go📍
3. Steep and slippery trails 🌧️ Norwegian hikes are often steep and rocky, especially after rain. Wear proper shoes with good grip 👟
4. Respect nature!🌳 Stick to marked trails, leave no trash, and don’t pick plants or disturb wildlife. Norway’s nature is wild and beautiful – let’s keep it that way 🍃

Midnight sun season is over in Lofoten, BUT👇🏼

📸 by:

That doesn’t mean the light show is over! From late July to early September, Lofoten enters one of its most underrated seasons. The sun now dips just below the horizon at night, but it never gets truly dark. Instead, the sky glows in soft tones of orange, pink and blue for several hours at night 🌅

This creates incredibly long sunrises and sunsets, perfect for photography, evening adventures, or just soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. You’ll often find the beaches and mountains completely quiet, with golden light stretching late into the night ✨

💚The best part? As the nights slowly return, so does the northern lights season 👀 From late August, you might catch the first green flickers dancing across the twilight sky 🤩
