𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝘽𝙁𝘼𝙍 𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙨 𝙊𝙣-𝙩𝙝𝙚-𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙩 𝙋𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙋𝙍𝙈𝙎𝙐 𝘾𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙖

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 3, in partnership with the College of Fisheries (COFi) of PRMSU Candelaria, celebrated the 62nd Fish Conservation Week 2025 on September 11, 2025 with the theme “Pangisdaang Masagana, Sapat na Isda sa Bawat Pamilya.”

One of the highlights of the celebration was the On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest, held at the campus covered court and joined by 18 students from the College of Fisheries. The competition showcased the students’ creativity in promoting awareness about the importance of sustainable fisheries.

Dr. Leila L. Ravana, the campus director of PRMSU Candelaria Campus, delivered the opening remarks in which she urged the students to acknowledge the importance of the fisheries sector in our ecosystem, economy, and culture and to also recognize the challenges that the sector is facing in order to protect and promote sustainability. “I hope that this celebration will inspire us to take action and make a commitment to protect our fisheries and marine resources for our future generations,” Dr. Ravana stated.

Also this September, BFAR celebrates the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month 2025 with the theme “Nagkakaisang Kapuluan, Panatag na Karagatan” that highlights the importance of conserving the country’s rich aquatic resources.

Dr. Neil D. Encinares, Provincial Fishery Officer of Zambales, also highlighted how fish remains one of the most important food sources in the Philippines. “Ang isda ang pinakapangunahing pinagkukunan ng protina. 80% ng mga Pilipino ay umaasa sa isda... kaya't pangalagaan po natin ang ating karagatan,” he reminded.

The On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest is exclusive to Fisheries Students in Central Luzon. This year, PRMSU Candelaria was one of the five chosen schools to participate in the event. The winners are set to be announced on Monday, September 15, 2025, after BFAR finalizes the judging of the entries.

The student who will win first place is set to receive a bountiful amount of 15,000 pesos, while second place will receive 10,000 pesos, and lastly, third place will receive 7,000 pesos.

‎Candelaria, Zambales — The Ramonians from President Ramon Magsaysay State University Candelaria Campus have elected a new set of Supreme Student Government (SSG) for the Academic Year 2025-2026.
‎
‎The election's result showed a strong participation from the student body. It was supervised by the Student Body Organization Coordinator, Mr. Mark Edrian De Guzman, alongside with the COMELEC Officers of Candelaria Campus.
‎
‎Leading the roster of student leaders, Princess Diana O. Elbo secured the position of President with a total of 129 votes.
‎
‎Other elected officers are as follows:

‎• Secretary: Christine Joy N. Guevara (121 votes)

‎CANDELARIA CAMPUS — President Ramon Magsaysay State University Candelaria Campus conducted a Miting de Avance to introduce the aspiring candidates for the Supreme Student Government election.

The program began with the introduction of the COMELEC officers: Mr. Sherwin Domulot (Adviser), Ms. Elaine Grace Malong (Commissioner), Charlene Barrera (Poll Clerk), and Ms. Ma. Fatima Carloy (Board of Elections Inspector).

Commissioner Malong then presented the candidates, all running under the Honor Party list. The slate includes: Princess Diana Elbo (President), Beverly Mose (Vice President), Christine Joy Guevarra (Secretary), Joel Mae Manuel (Treasurer), Junna May Muyano (Auditor), and Rafael Batnag Jr. (P.I.O.).

The Honor Party presented their platform, emphasizing student well-being through a friendly atmosphere and various activities. They also aim to foster academic success by ensuring access to academic resources and improving school facilities through environmental initiatives like recycling campaigns.

‎The event concluded with an open forum, allowing students to ask the candidates questions.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | The President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU) Health Unit successfully hosted a PHILHEALTH Caravan on August 12, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the PRMSU Candelaria Campus.

The event offered PhilHealth registration and updates, along with free check-ups, consultations, and laboratory services (Complete Blood Count, Chest X-ray, Urinalysis, Fecalysis, and Electrocardiogram) provided by Saint Pio's Medical Center, Inc., and was open to all students and the public.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐉𝐚𝐲 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐂. 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐚, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the College of Communication and Information Technology (CCIT), delivered a heartfelt and inspiring valedictory address at PRMSU Candelaria on July 21, 2025.

His speech emphasized the importance of perseverance, even when facing unexpected challenges, and urged his fellow graduates to carry forward the lessons and friendships gained, viewing graduation not as an end, but as a promising beginning.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐨 𝐀. 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐥, a Cum Laude graduate delivered an uplifting valedictory address on behalf of the graduates from the College of Fisheries (COFI) at PRMSU Candelaria Campus on July 21, 2025.

Barsabal highlighted the importance of determination and adaptation that is required to be able to succeed and underscored the complexity and importance of their field, often underestimated by others, explaining its crucial role in global food security, climate resilience, and sustainable development. In the end, he concluded that while the future is unpredictable, individuals possess the ability to create a more certain tomorrow.

Candelaria, Zambales—The 8th Year-End Commencement Exercises and Graduation of PRMSU's North Campuses commenced at 8:30 a.m. on July 24, 2025, at the PRMSU Candelaria Campus. The theme was "PRMSU Graduates 2025: Bold Minds, Brave Hearts, Boundless Horizons."

Cluster 5, composed of 353 Graduates from the north campuses (Masinloc, Candelaria, and Sta. Cruz) from the College of Computer and Information Technology (CCIT), College of Fisheries (COFI), College of Teacher Education (CTE), and College of Accountancy and Business Administration (CABA) marched the campus' covered court.

The graduates, along with their proud parents and guardians, distinguished guests, north campus directors, faculty members, and personnel partners from the private and public sectors, filled the Candelaria campus' covered court.

Dr. Leila L. Ravana, the PRMSU Candelaria Campus director, gave the opening remarks. This was followed by the presentation of candidates for graduation and the confirmation of graduates by Dr. Roy N. Villalobos.

The commencement guest of honor and speaker, Mr. Wilfredo M. Cuz, Regional Director of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), addressed the graduating students. He encouraged them to protect the fisheries sector, stating,"𝘈𝘴 𝘙𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦-𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵. Ms. Bernadette Falsario, a Magna Cum Laude graduate in BSE-Social Studies from the Sta. Cruz Campus, delivered the valedictory address on behalf of Cluster 5 graduates. Her inspiring message emphasized taking action despite uncertainty and the fear of failure. She stated, "𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘺. 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘧 𝘸𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘵𝘳𝘺?
