This educational packet presents middle and high school students with an objective and unbiased explanation of what tariffs are, why countries may impose them, and their potential economic impacts (e.g. economic independence, trade war etc.). After learning about tariffs, students are then presented with a case study of current events where they are prompted to share their thoughts and opinions on the tariffs imposed by the United States on Canada, Mexico, and China, and on Canada's response to the imposed tariffs. They are invited to consider the reasons behind these actions, their potential impact on the affected countries, and possible alternative actions.
