Inspired by the process of echolocation, the concerts will investigate sonic and spatial orientations in the Quad, with the themed editions exploring local phenomenon in multi-art formats.

O.R.B the organic rock band bring a night of overdrive, rhythm & bass to the Northern Rivers for the first time on Fri March 14 at the Bowlo 🌕

With a new line up and a return to a power trio, O.R.B will play a medley of material from their discography, on-the-spot improv & brand new songs. Joining them on the night are Garage/R&B headhunters The Sleeves ⭐️

Radio Nanyang broadcasts golden era sounds of Southeast Asia (and beyond), emphasising little-known and underappreciated recordings. Broadcasting from Studio Mimi, the collaborative archival studios of Scarcesounds and Holiday Maker Records. It’s named after the resident cat, Mimi, who hates loud noises, but likes music…

The Studio Mimi Archive is the collection of Asian vinyl and shellac records which are the source of the recordings heard on Radio Nanyang and select upcoming Holiday Maker compilations, and their origins go back long before Mimi was even a kitten. Developed over the last twenty years, the Studio Mimi Archive consists of thousands of rare Southeast Asian records from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei, and other parts of Asia such as Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Radio Nanyang is intended as an outlet to share the archive and showcase the diverse and creative music scene in Southeast Asia during the golden age of peak radio and record activity from 1965 to 1975. A lively music scene of young bands and vocalists who were performing at a myriad of venues for dances, concerts and charity events, and captured in the studio by the many local record labels that sprung up (ranging from branches of major record companies such as EMI, Philips and Decca to a large number of independent record labels).

Radio Nanyang adopts a retrospective approach in order to make available rare and obscure recordings which more fully display the diversity of languages and cultures in the region to audiences worldwide.

Thanks and praise to all involved in the recent Scientist tour, it was an immense experience 💗

Honoured to present the dub master Scientist to audiences in Oz for the first time + it was really special getting to know Hopeton and selector Denese on our travels together 🇯🇲

Hopeton has a theory that bass frequencies resonate more deeply down under 🦘
