Meet Maria Culley, Mabel and Stanley author of There's a Nanny in MY House! 🏠
It's a beautifully illustrated children's book about the trials and tribulations of accepting a nanny into the household, and it exists because Maria noticed something her work put her in a unique position to see. In her words:
"As a professional children's nanny, I understand only too well how difficult it can be for some children to accept a stranger into their household. I wanted to tell the story from the child's point of view, in a way that children could relate to.
I couldn't have published without Karen at Mabel and Stanley, who guided me through the whole project and also introduced me to the talented Maddie Powlesland, who did the illustrations!"
Maria's book came straight from her day job. She saw a real problem, from the child's side of it, that nobody else was addressing.
You don't need an extraordinary life to write a book worth reading. You need to notice what your work or your life has taught you that others would value.
Publishing a children's book isn't just writing and printing, it's illustrators, designers, formats, and a dozen other things you can't be expected to know.
When you publish with someone who's done it over eighty times, you don't just get guidance. You get the address book.

I'd love to read them!
