With over 10 years of experience, helping 60+ new authors through every step of the writing, editing, & publishing process, our friendly, approachable team has expertise in a wide range of genres. Personally, I am the published author of 14 books having started my writing career in 2011 and I started Mabel and Stanley Publishing in 2021 after a writing and publishing journey that was full of chal

lenges. My mission...I want to be the person that I needed when I started out - helping new authors to grow and share their words with the world without the many costly hurdles (both financial and emotional!) that I experienced. I found it so hard to get reliable, trustworthy advice and I almost gave up - the writing and publishing world is fraught with difficulty and unscrupulous 'experts'. Mabel and Stanley Publishing now has a growing team and is so proud to have helped over 60 authors to share their stories with the world. We've worked with clients from all over the world; from different backgrounds and experiences, including personalities in television and radio.

🚩 No clear royalty breakdown in your contract.

You should be able to see the exact percentage you'll receive, whether it's calculated on net receipts or RRP, and when and how you'll be paid.

If any of that is vague, unclear, or buried in language you need a lawyer to decode, assume it's structured to favour them, not you.

Royalties are your income. You have every right to understand them before you sign.

If you're waiting until you can write it perfectly, we need to have a gentle word.

Perfectionism isn't protecting your story, it's keeping it locked inside you.

The first draft is not meant to be beautiful. It's meant to exist. It's the raw material, the clay before the sculpting.

So write it badly.

Write it messily.

Write it in a way that makes you cringe a little. Because here's the truth: you cannot edit a blank page.

Get the words down first, everything else comes later.
