Lethal Weapon 5 (2025) - The Buddy Cop Duo is Back for One Last Ride
After a nearly 30-year hiatus, the iconic buddy cop duo of Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh are reuniting for one final mission in Lethal Weapon 5. Fans have been clamoring for the return of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover's legendary onscreen partnership, and in 2025 their wish will be granted.
Set 10 years after the events of Lethal Weapon 4, the new film finds the now quinquagenarian detectives Riggs and Murtaugh begrudgingly getting back into the action. An international crime syndicate has set its sights on the City of Angels, and only the unique abilities of the seasoned veterans can hope to take them down. From high-speed car chases to death-defying stunts, Lethal Weapon 5 promises to deliver all the thrilling over-the-top action that audiences have come to expect from this beloved franchise.
But beneath the pyrotechnics and testosterone-fueled antics, the film will also explore the enduring friendship between Riggs and Murtaugh. As they confront their own mortality, the two must decide whether to finally hang up their badges for good or have one last hurrah for old time's sake.
Directed by Richard Donner's protégé, the 25-year-old wunderkind filmmaker Zach Snyder, Lethal Weapon 5 looks to both honor the legacy of the series while also updating it for a new generation. With Gibson and Glover reprising their iconic roles, as well as a talented supporting cast of newcomers, this could be the explosive swan song that fans have been craving.
