It's been a bit since an update on the team/season, so here we go:
Daytona: All drivers showed good speed in their duels, but didnt have the best finishes to show for it. We had a plan to work with the Hubka Motorsports team throughout the race and executed said plan very well; drafting together, communicating nearly perfectly, and absolutely NAILING some green flag pit stops. Jeffrey and Lilith were the only team drivers who did not lead a lap during the race, but the whole team showed skill and speed as we ran in the front/middle of the pack for nearly the entirety of the race. A few wrecks put the drivers behind the 8-ball a bit with repairs needing to be done, but everyone (except Lilith unfortunately) was back on the lead lap in the closing laps. Tom, Jeff, Matt, and myself were all poised to make a good run on the last lap, but some accidental teammate on teammate violence took the good finishes away as longtime familiar face Chris Reese came away with the win and an extra $100 for winning the Dash 4 Cash this race
Roos- P22 (Start 11)
Klynsma- P11 (Start 20)
Bourne- P13 (Start 6)
Rodriguez- P14 (Start 28)
Peters- P29 (Start 26)
Las Vegas- Lady Luck was brutal at first, but gave some solid finishes when all was said and done. An early wreck set me back with some repairs that needed to be finished, and I got stuck multiple laps down while Jeffrey had some struggles of his own. As fate would have it though, a long green flag run to the end had some fuel and tire strategy come into play. I methodically made my way through the field after restarting in the mid-20's to finish in the runner-up spot and Jeffrey was also able to manage a top-10 run, his first in the league! Jeremy Richmond, who some of you may recognize as I have raced with him in prior leagues was able to manage everything to perfection and won in dominating fashion, a full 11+ seconds ahead of me.
Roos- P2 (23, hard charger award!)
Klynsma- P9 (18)
Auto Club- not a lot of positivity here...I caused a caution early by getting loose and collecting a few others and never rebounded. Every time I was in the lucky dog position, someone else would go a lap down and then the caution would wave. Jeff also struggled with the loose setup throughout the race and was involved in a few incidents, but was able to get his damage repaired and maintain his lead lap status. Tom was the only one on the RKR team who seemed to have a handle on the setup and ran near the front for a majority of the race, even leading laps at a few times. DJ Daniel battled won this one by 0.01 over his teammate, and current ROTY leader, Kyle Holden.
Roos- P20 (17)
Klynsma- P17 (16)
Bourne- P7 (18)
Looking at Richmond this week, which always poses a challenge with loose setups and not a lot of bailout room, so we'll see how much strategy comes into play or if it'll be just a race of attrition.
