My name is Zintle James . I am a farmer 🧑🏾‍🌾🐖 and the founder of Smeja’s Fresh Harvest in Sterkspruit (Makhetheng village). I have a Diploma in Human Resource Management. My company specializes in pig production 🐖🐖, but I also have a small vegetable garden and chickens 🥬🐔.

I started farming back in 2020, when we had 2 pigs at home, and I started to love pigs. I decided to expand and bought 2 more pigs in 2021🐖🐖. I started watching videos of successful piggery farmers, and their stories inspired me to start my own project🔥🥳.

In July 2022, I bought two Glits🐖🐖, and they recently had piglets. The other one has 12 and the other one has 8 piglets, for a total of 20 piglets🐖🐖🐖. I have also received funding of R45 000 from the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA)💰💰. This will helped me expand my operation with about 10 more pigs in 2023.

My advice for the youth is that farming is not only for the old people; if you have a business idea to start farming🧑🏿‍🌾, then do it. Ups and downs will be there, but remember why you started. There are also funding opportunities, but you need to start with what you have🔥. Funding must find you on the way💰.
