A HISTORIC DAY FOR SKM & SIKKIM 🌟
10th August holds a special and emotional place in the history of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) and the people of Sikkim.
On this very day in 2018, our beloved leader Shri P. S. Golay, after facing a politically motivated and fabricated case under the then oppressive regime, walked free from jail after completing one year of unjust imprisonment.
His release was not just his personal freedom , it became a symbol of liberation for the entire Sikkimese people who stood against the years of oppression, victimization, and fear.
Since then, 10th August has been celebrated every year as Jan Unmukti Diwas, a day that reminds us of the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of our leader and our people.
💚 Today, as we step into a new chapter in 2025, the SKM family proudly announces that this significant day will also be dedicated to every mother of Sikkim.
From this year onward, Jan Unmukti Diwas will also be marked as the Aama Samman Diwas — a day of love, respect, and gratitude to all mothers who are the guiding light of our society.
(“Aama” means “Mother,” and this day truly honours the mothers of Sikkim for their unconditional love and sacrifices.)
This vision, envisioned and dedicated by our beloved HCM Shri P. S. Golay, reflects our party’s values of compassion, justice, and inclusiveness.
