So Altrincham Stories about people, places and events in amazing Altrincham!

05/11/2020

Altrincham Word Fest is all finished for 2020. Using Zoom for all our events involved a steep learning curve - mainly for Yoko, our technical whizz. We thought we'd share this recording of An Evening with Carolyn O'Brien. This great behind-the-scenes picture shows Carolyn preparing to talk about her novel, 'The Song of Peterloo', and to share advice for budding writers of historical fiction. It starts rather abruptly, I'm afraid! https://youtu.be/12Ak-7cFN_Q

Just a few of the people involved in Altrincham Word Fest 2019. Top left: Dave Haslam, DJ and writer; top right: Maygen, winner of Rant Off!: bottom right: Tom Jenks, poet and performer: Bottom left: Susan Earlam, blogger and writer, with Victoria Sorzano. Fourteen events over two weeks attracted people from all over Greater Manchester, Cheshire and further afield to our great town. We had fantastic support from local business via Altrincham Unlimited. Altspace, Pi Bar and Coco’s Lounge provided us with wonderful venues. Lots of thanks also to Roy at the Town Hall who went above and beyond when helping us out! We are already planning next year’s events. If any other local businesses would like to get involved or to sponsor an event, for example, we would love to hear from you!

What a great evening we had last night at 'That's What She Said' at Coco's Lounge! Lisa Luxx and Laura Steven were the brilliant featured acts but we also heard from some amazing local poets and writers including Judith Hey, Kate Hook, Sarah Pritchard, Esther Koch, Sarah Costello Culllen, Jo Somerset and not forgetting the fantastic Jane Claire Bradley herself. If you missed the chance to perform your work don't forget we have a Poetry Open Mic Night next Wednesday, again at the wonderful Coco's Lounge. Many thanks yet again to Karen Herman Wright for the photos - she's so talented!
