Tragic News Out of Michigan

Our hearts are heavy as we share the devastating news that a 5-year-old boy tragically lost his life in an explosion inside a hyperbaric oxygen chamber in Macomb County, Michigan. Officials report that the incident occurred at a medical facility, where the explosion caused a fire that also left his mother critically injured.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the blast, and our thoughts are with the boy’s family and loved ones during this unimaginable time.

May he rest in peace. Many of us as commercial divers know the lifesaving benefits of hyperbaric treatment as well as the most textually dangerous environment. Especially when the oxygen levels inside the chamber increases for any unknown reason. That is why it is so important for the technician to remain vigilant and aware of a potentially dangerous situation. We will be reporting on this soon with industry professionals when we get more information. Pictures are of a therapeutic mono place chamber. The last photo is an old photo of a chamber fire in a larger multiplace chamber just used as reference.

Recorded live at underwater intervention New Orleans 2024. A great episode to kick off our 4th season!! Our first diver panel sponsored and hosted by Bottom Dwellers Media. We had a great time talking with seasoned dive supervisors including hall of famer John Carl Roat of Mako Marine . We were also joined by Jeffrey Gazarek, COSS, COSM from Moffatt and Nichol, Troy Gessner of Integrated Underwater Services, Trevor Heintz supervisor for Orion Marine and owner of Pressure Junkiez wetsuits, and myself Armando Gonzalez dive supervisor with Moffatt and Nichol and host of the Bottom Dwellers Dive Shack. The panel was moderated by Ducky. The host of Dive Shack Confidential, another show from Bottom Dwellers Media. Ducky’s show deals mostly with the ins and outs of gulf diving. Make sure to tune into both shows! We had a great time and great conversation about what it takes to be a good dive supervisor. We have stopped following all of the deep sea brand fake companies and highly suggest those in the commercial diving community does as well.
