It was a pleasure to be invited as a judge for Scape's 2021 Elevate Programme. Impressive stuff from all the contestants.

Elevate has grown to be such a positive incubator & I have no doubt it'll continue to provide an amazing platform for the development of SG's future gaming personnel!

It's always great to pick up the casting mic from time to time. I recently was invited to the inaugural E-Cities Championship Sim Racing event by Legion of Racers. The competitors raced in a 3D scanned circuit of Orchard Road.

Pretty cool that one of the top racers was a 12 YO kid, Dillon Tan, from SG. He set a course record during qualification rounds & even beat that during the pre-race sprint quals. Unfortunately, he couldn't hold on during the initial formation/start of the race & fell behind P1 by 2 sec & P2 by >1 sec 🙁

It was heaps of fun working with Tabitha Nauser, Hong Tsui from 9tro and of course meeting the guest of honour, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade & Industry, Tan See Leng.

They're gonna expand the Orchard Road circuit next year & are working on other SEA cities!

EDIT: Some asked for the race footage, here it is (actual race starts at 35:30 mark):

From “What the heck is esports?!?” to “Heck yea, esports!”

Video games have always been in my blood. From my dad’s passion for flight simulators and my mom’s love for platformers & puzzle games like “Tetris”. My chosen lane was FPSes & RTSes.

Once upon a time, I was a serious Pro-AM FPS competitor (mostly COD4 Promod & the Battlefield series. Along the way, I picked up shoutcasting (literally during the era of Winamp’s Shoutcast) after having one of my online matches commentated on by the folks of then, based in ANZ, Gamestah Radio (now Gamestah Media). Having a background in the Performing Arts & Musical Choir made it an easy hobby to pick up.

Esports & video game commentary was almost non-existent in SEA back in 2008. You could probably count the number of casters on one hand! A lot of effort went into educating brands & game publishers about the merits of making use of commentary to enhance their event experience. Fortunately, it was only a matter of time before they & the public were hooked!

To date, I’ve casted & hosted at over 50 events. I’ve worked with more than 30 unique clients & have casted around 44 game titles spanning 8 game genres.
