유일한 유니스트 학보사 UNIST JOURNAL입니다.
2019년 1학기를 맞이하여 신입 학생 기자, 편집부원, 그리고 카투니스트를 모집합니다!

(1) 유니스트 저널?
유니스트 저널은 학교 기관으로서 학교 내의 중요한 행사, 사회적인 이슈, 문화 및 학술 주제 등 다양한 분야의 영어 기사를 씁니다. 한 학기에 두 번 영자 신문을 발행하여 학생들에게 정보를 전달하며 학생들의 목소리를 내는 역할을 하고 있습니다.

*외국인 부원들이 많아, 공식 언어를 영어로 채택하고 있습니다. 하지만 걱정하실 필요는 없어요! 기본적인 작문실력만 있다면 함께 배우면 됩니다.

(2) 지원 분야
- Journalist: 학생 기자로 직접 취재, 인터뷰한 기사를 출판하실 수 있습니다.
- Cartoonist: 창의적인 카툰/일러스트를 신문에 기재하실 수 있습니다.
- Editor: 편집 부원으로서 나의 개성을 살린 신문을 발간하실 수 있습니다.
*Adobe Illustrator/InDesign 실력자 우대

(3) 지원 조건
1. 글쓰기를 좋아하는 신입생 및 재학생을 환영입니다
2. 최소 1년이상 활동할 수 있는 책임감 있는 사람
3. 무조건, 성실하게 참여할 부원을 원합니다

Hello everyone.

We are UNIST Journal, the official student newspaper of UNIST.
We are recruiting new members!
We are looking for responsible, passionate and active student journalists, cartoonists and editors!

(1) First off, UNIST Journal?
UNIST journal is a school affiliated institution, funded and run by UNIST. We publish the school newspaper twice per semester. We write articles about in-campus, out-campus, society, culture, academics etc. Literally anything that UNIST community should know.

Our official language is ENGLISH!
If you can write an essay in English, and are interested in journalism, no reason for hesitation!

(2) Fields
1. Student journalist: Writes articles for the newspaper
2. Cartoonist: Draws cartoons for articles in the newspaper
3. Editor: Makes the newspaper. Preference for experienced Adobe Illustrator/InDesign users

(3) Benefits as a member
- Leadership hours (AU) provided every semester
- We give you writer's fee! And yes, editor’s fee, cartoonist’s fee too! And more!
- Free access to the newspaper room in library 4th floor with printers, meeting rooms, Mac, fridge and more!

[ENG] Vote, a Pathway to Mature Democracy

Last April 8, Ulsan National Election Commission (UNEC) held a ‘Fair-Play Day’ event before the football game between Ulsan Hyundai Football Club (UHFC) and Gangwon Football Club in Munsu Stadium for the coming local elections. UNEC said they had been preparing a fair election and planning more events to make voters familiar with the election process.

Before the match, Ulsan National Election Commission exchanged a written agreement with Ulsan Football Association Referee Commission about the fair election and fair judgement. In addition, UNEC appointed Kim Dohun, manager of UHFC, as a ‘fair election honorary ambassador’ and the game was started with the first ball kicked by the UNEC chairman with the back number ‘613’, referring to the local election on June 13. Besides, Ulsan citizens could try the early voting in an experience booth installed by UNEC.

Not only for Ulsan, but also National Election Commission of the entire country holds lots of events to become familiar with the voters. It would be good for our country to raise the voting rate through these various attempts.

UNIST is located in Ulsan, though many students come from the all over the country. Thus, they are usually not concerned about the local elections; they even do not know the candidates. Furthermore, some of them do not vote or are on vacation on the elections day. However, we elect the leaders of the local government who will decide on local policies. The livelihood of people will depend on the elected person.

For this local election, there is also an ‘early-voting’ period (June 8-9) meant for people who cannot be present on June 13, the election day. So how about missing classes and voting for the mature democracy of our society?

[KOR] 투표, 성숙한 민주주의를 향한 한 걸음.

지난 4월 8일, 울산광역시선거관리위원회(이하 선관위)는 문수 경기장에서 ‘아름다운 선거를 위한 페어플레이 데이’를 개최하였다. 이번 행사를 기점으로 울산시 선관위는 공정한 선거를 준비함과 동시에 유권자들이 선거에 대해 친숙하게 생각 할 수 있도록 여러 행사들을 계획하고 있다고 밝혔다.

울산광역시선거관리위원회는 4월 8일 열린 울산현대와 강원FC와의 경기 전 문수 컨벤션 웨딩홀 인터뷰실에서 울산축구협회 심판위원회와 ‘공정협약식’을 통해 공정한 심판, 공정한 선거를 약속하는 협약서를 교환하였다. 또 경기 시작 직전, 김도훈 울산현대 감독을 ‘아름다운 선거 홍보대사’로 위촉하고 최인석 울산광역시선거관리위원회위원장이 6월 지방선거를 상징하는 613 등번호가 새겨진 유니폼을 입고 직접 시축을 하고 이외에도 사전투표 체험 부스를 설치하여, 유권자들이 ‘선거와 투표’에 대해 친숙하게 느껴질 수 있도록 여러 행사를 진행하였다.

다가오는 6.13 지방선거를 대비하여, 울산시 선관위뿐만 아니라 각 지역의 선거관리위원회들이 여러가지 행사들을 진행함으로써 각 지역주민들이 선거를 공정하고 더 친숙하게 여기게끔 하여 투표율을 높이려는 다양한 시도들을 하고있다. 이를 통해 투표율을 높인다면, 우리나라의 민주주의가 조금 더 성숙해질 수 있는 한 걸음을 밟는 것이다.

유니스트는 울산에 위치해 있지만, 서울에서 제주까지 전국 방방곡곡의 지역에서 온 학생들이 많아 상당수의 학생들이 지방선거에 관심이 없거나, 후보자들이 누구인지 모르는 경우도 많다. 또한 대통령 선거나 국회의원 선거에 비해 지방선거일에는 투표를 등한시 하고 단순한 공휴일로 여기기도 한다. 하지만, 지방선거는 그 지역의 행정, 정책을 담당하는 각 장들을 뽑는, 대통령선거나 국회의원 선거 못지않은 아주 중요한 선거이다. 누가 당선되냐에 따라 지역의 민생에 큰 영향을 준다.

이번 지방선거에는 지난번 선거와 다르게 부재자신고를 안해도 전국에 설치된 사전투표소에서 6월 8일부터 9일, 투표를 할 수가 있다. 우리 유니스트 학생들도 다가오는 6월 선거일에는 펜을 잠시 내려놓고 우리에게 주어진 권리이자 의무인 투표권을 행사하러 가는 것이 어떨까.

유니스트 유일 학보사. UNIST JOURNAL에서 새로운 피를 모집합니다!!

UNIST JOURNAL은 학생팀 소속으로써 1년에 3번, 기자들이 직접 쓴 영어 기사를 바탕으로 편집부원들이 디자인한 오프라인 신문을 발간합니다. 모든 것들이 멤버들 스스로 만든 결과물이기 때문에 만들어진 신문을 마주하였을 때의 보람은 말로 이루어 말할 수 없죠!!

그렇다고 보람만으로 열정페이를 하느냐, 아닙니다. 유니스트 저널은 기자, 편집부원들의 노력을 절대 무시하지 않습니다. 매 학기 리더십 프로그램으로 필요한 봉사시간을 단번에 해결, 신문에 실리는 기사마다 고료가 지급됩니다!!

영어를 못하신다고요? 걱정 마세요! 유니스트 저널에는 토익 토플 고득점인 선배들이 영어를 친절히 가르쳐줘요! 외국인 멤버들도 존재하니 대화를 통해 자연스레 영어실력이 는답니다.

유저널 은 일하기만 하는 단체도 아닙니다. 매 학기가 끝나는 방학에 국내, 혹은 해외여행을 같이 가기도 하고, 평소 취미활동을 공유하기도 합니다. 또한 학술정보관 4층에 있는 저널실에서 시험기간, 과제로 인한 밤샘, 야식까지 편하게 즐길 수 있답니다. 이 모든 혜택을 누리고 싶으시다면 지금 당장 지원하세요!!

"...located on the second floor of Building 309, the new cafeteria offers food from international cuisines. Served in buffet style, the new cafeteria offers meals during lunchtime and dinnertime. Moreover, meals are prepared with halal ingredients to provide Muslim individuals on campus with food."
