🎬 Papa Buka's International Premiere at Minsk International Film Festival! 🇵🇬🇮🇳
Dear friends, We’re excited to share that Papa Buka has been officially selected for the International Competition at the 31st Listapad - Minsk International Film Festival, Belarus (Oct 31 - Nov 7, 2025)! Out of the record 3,655 entries from 120 countries, 17 films made it to the competition - and Papa Buka is proudly among them. The Minsk screening on Nov 2nd will mark the international premiere of Papa Buka. 🌏
The film had its national premiere in Port Moresby during PNG’s 50th Independence celebrations, attended by Hon. Prime Minister James Marape. Now, its international premiere in Minsk marks another milestone in this unforgettable journey.
Shot entirely in PNG, the film unearths forgotten WWII histories that bind India and Papua New Guinea through shared memory and resilience. Directed by Dr. Bijukumar Damodaran, Papa Buka is a moving anti-war story that bridges the histories of Papua New Guinea and India - a tribute to shared courage, loss, and healing.
🎥 Featuring the powerful performance of Sine Boboro, an 85-year-old tribal leader, alongside Ritabhari Chakraborty, Prakash Bare, and John S**e, Papa Buka is a moving anti-war story of healing and human connection. 🎶 With a soul-stirring score by Ricky Kej, three-time Grammy Award winner and UN Goodwill Ambassador, the film bridges cultures and generations in its message of peace and hope. A PNG–India co-production by Noelene Taula Wunum, Akshay Kumar Parija, Pa Ranjith, and Prakash Bare, Papa Buka celebrates cinema as a bridge between peoples and nations.
🌺 Papa Buka – Our stories, our history, our voice on the world stage. 💫 A celebration of culture, collaboration, and humanity.
