The AAPP noted that 58 of the 130 deaths resulted from junta airstrikes.

𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗠𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗺𝗮𝗿— A civilian was killed and three others injured when the military junta conducted an airstrike using fighter jets in Mongngawt Township, a territory under the control of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in northern Shan State.

The attack occurred at 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday (July 15) near the Man Ping Bridge in Mongngawt Township. According to a TNLA statement, the military dropped two 250-pound bombs using a fighter jet, targeting the bridge and surrounding civilian areas.

TNLA stated that the bombing slightly damaged the Man Ping Bridge and caused civilian casualties. The airstrike comes just a day after a similar junta attack on July 14 targeted Taung Myo Ward in Hsipaw town, where two civilians were killed and five injured. That assault also damaged five civilian homes.

Between June 29 and July 14, the junta carried out a total of 11 air raids across TNLA-controlled areas in northern Shan State and nearby Mandalay Region, including six strikes on Kyaukme, one on Thonze village in Nawnghkio Township, two on Mogok, and two on Hsipaw. These attacks have killed at least nine civilians—including children—and injured 47 others, four of whom are children.

In addition to the human toll, at least 63 homes, one school, and four monasteries were damaged or destroyed by aerial bombings during this period.

In response to the rising threat, the TNLA has urged civilians to stay alert and take necessary precautions against air raids, including following safety protocols to protect themselves during aerial assaults.

Three Belarusian universities—Belarusian State University (BSU), Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR), and Belarusian State Technological University (BSTU)—are training Myanmar military officers in advanced technical and military skills, raising concerns about their role in supporting the Myanmar junta’s ongoing attacks on civilians.

BSU has signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Yangon and other institutions to enroll Myanmar military students. The university currently hosts 10 military personnel, offering programs in military law, geo-information, and related subjects through its military faculties.

BSUIR has been providing training to Myanmar military students in radio-electronic engineering, with a focus on air-defense systems. These students are reportedly linked to Myanmar’s military factories, including Defence Industry 4 in Naypyidaw, Defence Industry 20 in Magway, and Myanmar Heavy Industry 10 in Mandalay.

BSTU operates a military training department specializing in ground-forces logistics and weaponry. In May 2025, the university’s principal met with Myanmar generals and 34 Myanmar students enrolled in advanced military studies programs.

Critics argue that by equipping Myanmar’s military with technical expertise, these universities are enabling the junta to perpetuate violence against civilians. Calls have been made for academics and international partners to boycott these institutions and condemn their involvement in the Myanmar junta’s actions.

𝐁𝐚𝐠𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐌𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐫— A political prisoner in Thayarwaddy Prison, Bago Region, was severely beaten by prison staff and left without medical care for hours, according to a statement released by the Political Prisoners’ Network-Myanmar (PPNM).

The victim, Aung Thu Htet, suffered a dislocated shoulder after he was allegedly assaulted by prison staff member Soe Min on the morning of July 6. The incident reportedly took place in the prison’s administrative office, where Soe Min accused Aung Thu Htet of being involved in an altercation with another inmate.

According to PPNM, Soe Min is known for repeatedly committing acts of violence against political prisoners. Several complaints have been filed against him for abusing newly transferred political detainees.

Despite suffering a dislocated shoulder from the beating, Ko Aung Thu Htet was reportedly denied immediate medical attention and remained untreated for several hours. It was only after repeated demands from fellow political prisoners that he received medical attention around 2 p.m. that day. Following the treatment, prison authorities accused him of causing trouble and placed him in solitary confinement.

Sources close to the prison revealed that Soe Min has not faced any disciplinary action for the assault. Instead, he has merely been reassigned to a different post within Thayarwaddy Prison, but no suspension or legal action has been taken.

PPNM also highlighted a pattern of abuse and impunity among prison authorities under the military junta. Political prisoners continue to face harsh conditions, including physical abuse, intimidation, and denial of basic human rights. Yet, prison officials often fail to take proper action against perpetrators.

The organisation has called for urgent intervention to protect political prisoners from further abuse and for independent oversight of Myanmar’s prison system, which continues to operate under the military junta’s repressive rule.

Two conscripted soldiers from the military junta’s Nawnghkio frontline have defected to the Kyaukme District Special Task Force without weapons, according to the spokesperson from the task force.

The two soldiers defected in early June and were part of the military junta’s 10th batch of conscripts, the spokesperson confirmed.

In addition to these two, other conscripted soldiers have previously fled the military junts’s forces, the spokesperson noted.

“We urge others not to sacrifice their lives for the terrorist military council. Escape and join us. We guarantee their safety and will arrange transportation to their desired destinations,” the task force spokesperson stated.

The Kyaukme District Special Task Force warmly welcomes other conscripted soldiers who wish to defect, the spokesperson added, extending an open invitation to those seeking to escape.
