Merry Christmas & Thank You

Just a little heads up in terms of music on Christmas Day. Our normal programming is going to take a little break between these hours (UK Time):

8am -10am
12.30pm - 2.30pm

So instead of the usual music you're used to, we will be playing traditional Christmas themed instrumental music. Nothing loud nor cheesy, this special programming is designed to enjoy food, opening gifts, talking to friends/family or simply relaxing by yourself.

To everyone that celebrates Christmas - we hope you have a lovely time filled with compassion, love, peace & freedom. You truly deserve it.

A massive thank you to everyone who has supported us this year. We couldn't do this without you!

Great News!

Our listenership continues to rise hitting on average 32,700 listeners each week, and you are listening for longer (29% increase).

We are now beating many small DAB Government Regulated stations across the UK, many of these are owned by huge global brands.

A little update.

Hey you awake lot.

We try not to post very much here on Facebook due to many restrictions imposed by Facebook, so we keep things to the minimum. If you want to see all the stations activity do checkout our X/Twitter page x.com/909islive

From January 2025, we are removing all 3rd party advertising from our free apps in the play-store/IOS. Although this is great news for you guys, it's not so good for the station's finances as we are now paying for the on-going costs. This decision was taken by the developer due to increased maintenance, hosting and support costs. Some new features will be added into the app next year which is something to look forward to. We have managed to secure a good competitive deal for the current time. I feel it would be wrong to charge listeners to tune into us, so I will be personally paying these fees out of my own pocket.

Thanks to recent and regular on-air advertising by lovely awake organisations and individual outreach folk we are able to cover those essential broadcasting costs into 2025. We have also seen a rise in website sales in the last 4 weeks which has really helped, as per our previous post please checkout some of the wonderful items available to purchase at english909.com/shop

This year the station will not be going heavy on Christmas for a variety of reasons, you may hear some presenter-led shows on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day morning, but this would depend on the music chosen by the presenters who provide shows for a small number of independent stations. The odd Christmas song maybe heard during the run-up to Christmas but this isn't guaranteed. We will however continue to promote Christmas events & outreach announcements on-air.

Thanks as always for listening and the love you show towards the station, I hope the choice of music & the station in general is bringing a little light during these difficult & challenging times we are all facing. We've been here as a sanctuary place from the madness 24/7 since 2020.
