When we speak about holistic education, it should rightfully include spiritual development. Education is not just a gateway to finding a job, but a pathway towards developing a holistic human person. Focus on the four-fold development of the physical, mental, emotional, and intellectual - while embracing spirituality. There is more research to be done on this!

Purpose: To inform current international debates about educating for wholeness and purpose, this article gives a critical analysis of spiritual development as a...

The report says that foreign students’ interest in digital education has snowballed despite “suboptimal” experience with university courses that were rapidly migrated online. This could open up new markets for higher education providers, particularly in “the rising lower middle class”.

Bumper 2021 tipped, as students who deferred this year flock back and undergraduates opt for PhDs

The new normal in higher education: Hybrid teaching & learning and student engagement.

"In any industry-transforming experience, the tuned-in, the insightful, and the audacious get the spoils. As greater personalization and contextualization is prized and learners orient toward skills- and career-enhancing programs, there are opportunities ahead for a number of platforms, technologies, and institutions."

So what can we expect after our initial response to COVID? Which programs can avoid being casualties of this pandemic? How should we reimagine higher education in the aftermath?

In addition to closing schools, countries are exploring options for remote learning and use of other educational resources to mitigate loss of learning. This involves capitalizing on work already started, and addressing ever-present challenges like degrees of accessibility within communities to ensure equity in access.

Before the outbreak of the global coronavirus pandemic, the world was already dealing with a learning crisis, as evidence by low numbers of Learning Poverty. With the spread of the coronavirus, the education system is facing a new crisis.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Bill Gates gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world

According to Harvard professor, Howard Gardner, there are 8 abilities or ''intelligences":

1. musical-rhythmic,
2. visual-spatial,
3. verbal-linguistic,
4. logical-mathematical,
5. bodily-kinesthetic,
6. interpersonal,
7. intrapersonal,
8. naturalistic

Which ones do you have?

Standardized testing and formal education tends to be monopolized by the verbal-linguistic and the logical-mathematical. Does that mean they are superior?

No.

Let us explore the notion that intelligence is much more expansive and most importantly: Know Yourself.

It helps in your learning process!

What does it mean when someone calls you smart or intelligent? According to developmental psychologist Howard Gardner, it could mean one of eight things.

"The most important factor is whether the tutor can develop a rapport with your child. Just because a tutor has worked wonders with a friend’s offspring doesn’t mean they will be able to do the same for yours.''

Personal tutoring works wonders - only if there is chemistry between tutor and student. The ''matching'' between personalities is a crucial component.

Key essentials to look for:
1. Expertise & qualifications
2. Teaching style

But if that's too much work, why not let us do it for you.

Deciding whether to pay for a private tutor is a decision many parents are making.

"In times of change, learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.”

In order to thrive in the new "learning economy'' - individuals need to be independent and internally-driven.

Awake, arise and use education to achieve life goals - rather than expecting parents and teachers to do that work!

You need not be alone in this process, find a mentor or coach who understands your learning styles and personality; sharpen the saw; and off you go into this new earth...

Tens of thousands of public and private schools have closed their doors to over 425 million students because of the Coronavirus – and these numbers continue to rise. Teachers and administrators are scrambling to figure out how to instruct students in this new reality. Face-to-face classroom instru...

So, one of the first books that I read before embarking on a law degree was Glanville Williams' Learning the Law. There, Williams, a Cambridge law professor, gives a formula to successfully learn the law.

What sort of books should you read before you embark on a law degree?

Well Williams' book is a start, but to get your juices really going - below is a suggested list.

Wait, did I say there is a formula? Yes, there is certainly a formula. Before we get into that, here is:

Syllables' Top 3 Books to Read Before Going to Law School

1. To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee

2. The Bramble Bush, by Karl L. Llewellyn

3. Bleak House, by Charles Dickens

Law is about language. Law is about reading and writing. It need not be all gloom and doom!

Williams says it aptly, one needs "A Guide, A Philosopher, A Friend".

Message us, if you need guidance,

It was the Greek philosopher Heraclitus who said, “The Only Thing That Is Constant Is Change”.

We are living in the age of Disruption, but the current global crisis (aka Covid19) has brought about an unwelcome disruption to the world's economy and everyday life.

Education has changed through the centuries, it is certainly different from the era of Heraclitus (which is even before the time of Plato!).

Online learning is not new - it is but a development of the correspondence learning of yore. But how far have we come, from the age of letter writing, to the age of the Internet of Things.

And what further rapid changes can we expect?

Daunting? Exciting? Here's more on this Change:

Digital learning goes mainstream in a hurry and that's going to upend current education practices, models, and processes going forward.
