I want to share a short video with you I made about an experience I had a few days ago while we were visiting the Temple of Heaven. There was a woman playing a traditional instrument and singing. She wanted to teach me and then a Chinese girl (about our kids’ age) came and wanted to learn. This is the final result.

The ancient city-state of Mycenae was built around 1600 BC. These people surrounded their city with walls so big and thick that they were called "Cyclopean Walls" because it was believed that only the mythological cyclops could build such a structure. They were as much as 39 feet high and 20-26 feet thick made from stone blocks weighing several tons each. The Lion Gate, dating to around 1250 BC, is one of the oldest surviving monumental sculptures in Europe. They buried their royals and nobility in what are called Tholos tombs (AKA "beehive tombs") which were made by blocks as large as those that make up the Cyclopean Walls. The Mycenaean influence spanned far beyond their Cyclopean Walls. The Mycenaean road to Epidaurus is where one can find Arkadiko Bridge, the oldest bridge in Europe, built by the Mycenaeans between 1300 BC and 1200 BC. You can see all of this in my next video coming out August 9. Until then, enjoy other videos from Greece here - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqzckMqDhaPMPHYpLn3YBHzAzRY0zZsDg
