'The power of protest' pressurized the Indian Government to intervene and issue a stay order when the local government of Uttarakhand decided to evict the one of largest slum area Haldwani.

As per the Times of India, The Supreme Court is set to hear a plea against Uttarakhand High Court’s order to evict over 4,000 families from Railway land. The 78-acre area houses about 50,000 families, mostly from the Muslim community. Senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan is representing the petitioners. The residents claim that they have been staying in the area since 1910, and there are several schools and banks also in the area. Residents also say that the Uttarakhand govt had earlier promised to either regularise the settlements or move them to new location, but it has now gone back on its words.

Andrew Tate was detained alongside his brother Tristan and had his house raided in the capital, Bucharest. An official police spokesperson confirmed the arrests to the BBC .

The former kickboxer Tate rose to fame in 2016 when he was removed from British TV show Big Brother over a video which appeared to show him attacking a woman.

He went on to gain notoriety online, with Twitter banning him for saying women should "bear responsibility" for being sexually assaulted. He has since been reinstated.

Despite social media bans he gained popularity, particularly among young men, by promoting an ultra-masculine, ultra-luxurious lifestyle, appearing in videos with his fleet of expensive sports cars, private jets and on expensive holidays.

Speaking to the BBC, a spokesperson for the Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) said prosecutors had applied to hold the influencer at a "detention centre" for an additional 30 days. A judge will rule on the application on Friday afternoon, they added.

"The four suspects... appear to have created an organised crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content meant to be seen on specialised websites for a cost," DIICOT said in a statement.

TikTok is considered to be a "high risk due to a number of security issues," the House's Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) said in a message sent to all lawmakers and must be deleted from all devices managed by the House.

The new rule follows a series of moves by U.S. state governments to ban TikTok, owned by Beijing-based ByteDance Ltd, from government devices. As of last week, 19 states have at least partially blocked the app from state-managed devices over concerns that the Chinese government could use the app to track Americans and censor content.
