🏛️ Farmer and Frenchman zoning request moves to planning commission for a public hearing

A proposed zoning text amendment that could pave the way for a six-unit bed and breakfast at Farmer & Frenchman is now headed to the Henderson City-County Planning Commission for a public hearing.

The amendment would add a “small farm winery farmstay” as a conditional use in agricultural zones, formally creating a path for agritourism-based lodging. The planning commission is set to hold a public hearing on the proposal at its Jan. 6 meeting.

🎁It’s a tough time of the year for many. RVBH wants those who need help to call 988

🎄The holiday season can be especially difficult for many, particularly those coping with grief or recent loss. River Valley Behavioral Health (RVBH) is encouraging anyone who is struggling to reach out for support by calling or texting 988 🆘 the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline.

Michelle Nobles, vice president of outpatient services for RVBH, said the service is not only for people experiencing suicidal thoughts, but also for those dealing with everyday stressors that can feel overwhelming. Warning signs may include changes in sleep or eating habits, increased irritability, or emotional withdrawal.

Day-to-day challenges such as family conflict, substance use, domestic violence, anxiety at school, or stress at work are all valid reasons to seek help, Nobles said.

“We want folks reaching out before it gets to that crisis level,” she said.

📳Support is available 24/7 by dialing 988 to reach the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline.

🏘️City and Habitat deal has led to clearing of nine blighted properties

Habitat for Humanity of Henderson has purchased and cleared nine blighted properties in the inner city since partnering with the City of Henderson earlier this fiscal year.

Under the agreement, the city and Habitat each contribute $100,000 annually ~ a combined $200,000 per year ~ to identify, acquire, and clear problem properties. That’s a major increase from the city’s previous $50,000 annual allocation, according to Mayor Brad Staton.

The partnership grew out of recommendations from last year’s Inner City Improvement Plan.
