Glowing obituary ("remained steadfast") but was a registered s*x offender. Up to 11 victims and almost was offered bishop calling after conviction.

Mormon bishopric counselor / chiropractor Jack Lewis Cash s*xually assaulted up to 11 patients in California from 1979-95. Allegedly, the LDS church did not discipline him after his conviction, and almost made him a bishop in Utah until someone warned the stake high council. Glowing obituary 2023.

Floodlit case report: https://floodlit.org/a/g092/

Jack Lewis Cash was a Mormon bishopric counselor and stake high council member who perpetrated s*x crimes in San Luis Obispo, California. Cash was a practicing chiropractor for more than 30 years.

Cash's crimes allegedly took place between 1979 and 1995, during chiropractic visits. At least 11 of Cash's female patients said he fondled their breasts. At least one victim reported the abuse to her church leader; Floodlit is trying to find out if the leader was Mormon.

In 1976, Cash became first counselor in the bishopric of the LDS Paso Robles Ward in the San Luis Obispo Stake.

In 1985, Cash's chiropractic license was suspended for 45 days after an investigation into allegations that he groped his female patients' breasts. Three women came forward, one each in 1979, 1982 and 1983, saying Cash touched them inappropriately.

In October 1995, Cash was found guilty of seven counts of misdemeanor s*xual battery by a San Luis Obispo Municipal Court jury. (Case number M800228731)

In January 1996, a judge ordered Cash to spend two months in county jail and placed him on three years of probation.

Cash's attorney said Cash would "would most likely apply for the County Jail's in-home detention program to serve the two-month jail sentence," according to a 1996 news article.

On October 28, 1996, the California Chiropractic Board permanently revoked Cash's chiropractic license.

Shortly thereafter, Cash relocated to Utah, where he eventually was required to register as a s*x offender for his offenses in California, according to a person familiar with Cash.

Cash's California Mormon ward leadership knew but did not believe that he was actually guilty, despite his conviction, the person said.

The source told Floodlit that the Mormon church never disfellowshipped or excommunicated Cash for his criminal s*xual behavior.

According to Floodlit's source, Cash moved to Sandy, Utah and later to Manti, Utah, where he was not registered as a s*x offender.

Eventually, Cash was forced to register as a s*x offender in Utah, which appeared online and ultimately prevented Cash from becoming a bishop.

The source said a local LDS ward needed to replace a recently deceased bishop, and Cash's name was submitted as a potential replacement. The source told a coworker who was on the stake high council that Cash was a registered s*x offender, and Cash was not selected.

Cash died in 2023. His obituary said he "was a dedicated chiropractor and loved working with his patients."

Jack Lewis Cash (1934-2023) obituary excerpt

Cash's obituary said, "Jack remained steadfast in his faith and served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in multiple bishoprics, on multiple high councils, priesthood quorum presidencies, served a mission as a young man, and then again with his beloved wife [redacted] in the Provo Utah South mission. His favorite calling, however, was probably as a teacher. He taught seminary for five years in Long Beach when he was newly married. He also taught the Gospel Doctrine class in Sunday School for many years."

Case report on former judge Kevin Christensen: https://floodlit.org/a/b191/

Kevin Christensen a former judge in Brigham City, Utah was accused of taking part in online chats with Hansen in which they discussed ways they could perpetrate s*xual abuse on minor children.

Christensen originally allowed to be released from jail while acting as judge for Hansen's case. Christensen was later arrested on charges involving child s*x abuse and CSAM.

The latest charges against Hansen involve abuse that allegedly took place while he may not have been active in the Mormon church, according to two people familiar with Hansen.

Floodlit has communicated with an abuse survivor who said Hansen s*xually assaulted them while active in the Mormon church.

The survivor said they told a Mormon bishop about the abuse but did not receive help.

Hansen is also facing a civil lawsuit filed in March in Utah. In that case, two girls claim that Hansen s*xually abused them and distributed n**e photos of them online when they were younger than seven and five years old.

Floodlit case report: https://floodlit.org/a/g087/

Marc Cameron was a Mormon church member and former BYU hip-hop dance instructor in Utah.

Cameron was arrested and charged in June 2025 after allegedly s*xually assaulting underage students at a dance studio he owned in Cottonwood Heights.

Cameron moved to Utah after his baptism into the Mormon church sometime prior to late 2015, according to a 2018 BYU Daily Universe article:
https://universe.byu.edu/2018/12/18/big-chocolate-from-hip-hop-dancer-to-byu-instructor-1/

Thanks to your donations, Floodlit has obtained a copy of the probable cause affidavit in Cameron's case. Excerpts are included in the sources section of the case report.
https://floodlit.org/a/g087/

The affidavit said that, "According to information obtained during the investigation, it was alleged the A/P had intimate relations with a sixteen-year-old when he resided in the United Kingdom. An investigation was initiated, and the A/P fled to the United Kingdom. Witnesses stated the A/P has altered the spelling of his name since he relocated to Utah."

Some of the alleged abuse took place as early as 2019.

As of June 30, Cameron is being held without bail in the Salt Lake County Jail.

Floodlit case report: https://floodlit.org/a/g084/
Jonathan Lane Sanders, a 32-year-old Mesa dentist who worked until recently at Caffall Dental Care, faces 23 federal charges, including receiving child s*xual abuse material, coercion of a minor, and sending obscene material to minors.

Sanders is a Mormon church member, according to a source familiar with the case.

Sanders allegedly sent n**e photos and videos to 10 girls aged 13-15 on Discord between October 2024 and March 2025, attempting to persuade them into illegal s*xual activity.

Sanders used a work-issued tablet to bypass restrictions on his personal devices, according to a prosecutor.

He pleaded not guilty on June 26, 2025, and remains in custody.

The investigation began after a Connecticut girl’s mother reported suicidal behavior linked to Sanders’ messages.

Mormon s*xual abuse news: Former Idaho high school football coach charged with s*xual abuse of a teenager was a Mormon bishopric counselor twice from 2014 to 2019.

Floodlit case report: https://floodlit.org/a/g082/
Dozens of LDS s*x abuse cases involving teachers:
https://floodlit.org/?s=Teacher&id=5740
Kip Erik Crofts, 59, was a high school football coach in Caldwell, Idaho for many years.
Crofts was a Mormon bishopric counselor twice from 2014 to 2019, according to a source familiar with the case. He went on a Mormon mission in the 1980s, according to a person who knew Crofts.

In June 2025, Crofts was arrested and charged with s*xual abuse of a teenager.

In December 2024, Crofts allegedly masturbated in front of a 14-year-old.
Crofts was a high school football coach and physical education (PE) teacher for 32 years in Idaho:

1992 to 2007: unknown; we’re still gathering info
2007: Head coach at Meridian High School
2013 to 2015: Assistant coach at Bishop Kelly High School (a Catholic school) in Boise
2016 to 2021: Head coach at Payette High School – students allegedly protested against Croft’s employment
2023 to 2025: Coach at Caldwell High School
Crofts may have been placed on leave from Caldwell before his arrest. Floodlit is seeking more info.

A person who knew Crofts told Floodlit he was a bishopric counselor at the time of an alleged incident of s*xual abuse. We are trying to find out whether that alleged incident is the same as the one for which he has been criminally charged.
Floodlit’s team saw comments posted on a TikTok video about the arrest and charges.

Multiple commenters said Crofts was their high school football coach and suggested that he was passed from school to school in quick succession – a public school phenomenon commonly referred to as “passing the trash.”

One commenter said they knew Crofts through the LDS church when the commenter was growing up.

Another said the local school board knew for years about multiple reports of inappropriate behavior by Crofts but “turned a blind eye.”

Another commenter said they participated in a walkout protest by students at Payette High School in Payette, Idaho after Crofts allegedly “picked up a student and pinned him against the wall.”

Another commenter said, “He shoved a kid against a wall for ‘disrespecting him.’ Kid got expelled, and school did nothing against Kroft!! Same week a girl stepped forward saying he touched her!!”

The Payette protest took place in 2021, according to another person who commented on a Facebook post about Crofts’s arrest and charges.

On Facebook, a woman said Crofts threw water on her 2011 when she wore a white T-shirt while in a high school gym class.

Another Facebook commenter said she reported Crofts to a local school district for touching her daughter inappropriately, but alleged that nothing was done to discipline him.
