The Shetland Performance Display Team is a unique group of registered Shetland ponies and talented young jockeys who travel the country putting on exciting races, relays, and display performances.
Our mission is to showcase the incredible versatility and character of the wonderful Shetland pony, while giving our young riders valuable experiences that build confidence, teamwork, and lifelong memories all in the spirit of fun and charity.
We are proud to continue our longstanding support for two incredible causes: Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal for Bristol Children’s Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital and Charity. Our 2025 season will once again see us raising vital funds to help these organisations continue their life-changing work.
The Shetland pony is Britain’s oldest native breed and renowned for its strength, resilience, and charm. In fact, pound for pound, they are the strongest horses in the world. Their power and compact stature once made them a vital asset in coal mines, while in their native Shetland Isles, they were the trusted companions of crofters and often ridden to market by both husband and wife.
Through our displays, we aim to celebrate this heritage, inspire a new generation of horse lovers, and bring joy to spectators of all ages all while helping children who need it most.
