Grab yer tissues!
Just over three years ago I bought a house with my ex with the intention of DIYing our way to a forever home. What actually happened is that I did all of that DIY and created that home on my own and only paid a sparky to help, it wasn’t the plan but it’s one of my proudest achievements. It was a slog, and I haven’t finished, but I did it all by my myself with the occasional parachute help from my mum or a friend.
Almost a year ago that relationship came to an end and last week I completed the equity transfer so I now own the house outright, after everything I put in I just couldn’t let it go. It’s no longer the forever home but it is mine, and for now that’s enough.
Yesterday I found out I’m a finalist in the Best First Time Home Renovation category of the Home Awards which to be honest I didn’t even enter until the last day when something told me to do it. It feels like such a full circle moment given the timing to make it through to the final of this particular category so thank you so much to everyone who voted. Ya gal here can’t help but feel like the universe is universing with this one 🩷
