A scary, anxious and overwhelming fear fills your body when, like me, your waters break early, or you are told the babies need to be delivered right away.
Thereโs only so much you can do, the best thing to do is to remain calm and positive, which is incredibly hard during a stressful time like this.
All you want is to hear your babyโs first cry and to know that they are OK.
World prematurity day is about raising awareness of the impact of a pre term baby. The extra care that is needed and the impact it can have on families.
Harvey was born prematurely via emergency c-section, as a first time mum it was a scary time. That first cry was everything, he was ok. He stayed by my bedside and left for NICU for medicines but luckily nothing major was wrong.
Our girls were luckily was able to stay at my bedside being looked after under the NICU team. Amelie needed help breathing and adjusting to being outside of the womb, she had tubes to assist with breathing for a couple days and both needed incubators to help them regulate their body temperatures. Our stay was 10 days which is nothing compared to others.
Post leaving the hospital, they developed colic which, pre term babies have a higher chance of having, along with feeding difficulties.
Luckily for us, our 3 babies are here and thriving. They are troopers and we couldnโt of done it without the doctors, nurses and midwives around us.
Snesing love to anyone going through this โค๏ธ
