🌍🐢 Happy World Sea Turtle Day! 🐢🌍
Today, we celebrate the ancient mariners of the sea and the vital role they play in keeping our oceans healthy—and why protecting them matters more than ever.
Sea turtles have been swimming Earth’s oceans for over 100 million years. As keystone species, they help maintain marine ecosystems by balancing seagrass beds, controlling jellyfish populations, and supporting nutrient cycles on nesting beaches.
At the Sea Turtle Hospital at Whitney Lab, every day is Sea Turtle Day—but today holds special significance.
We’re proud to be part of the ongoing fight to protect these endangered animals through our mission of:

💚 Rehabilitation – Providing life-saving veterinary care and second chances

Saving Sea Turtles: Stories, Science, and Community
📅 Thursday, June 26th | 🕔 5–7 PM
📍 Sea Turtle Hospital at Whitney Lab
This free evening event will feature our Sea Turtle Hospital Display and Gift Shop, along with a special nesting display from our friends at Mickler's Landing Sea Turtle Patrol in the Whitney Laboratory Center for Marine Studies building.
🎤 At 6 PM, join us for a presentation by Dr. Ed McGinley, Associate Professor and Coordinator of Natural Sciences at Flagler College.
🔒 Please note: There will be no hospital tours during this event.
🚧 But as you make your way into the Marine Studies building, you’ll get a sneak peek at our brand-new Whitney Laboratory and Sea Turtle Hospital, expected to open by the end of this year! 🐢✨
