Friends of Chinatown YYC is launching Auntie’s Kitchen, a community cooking program giving immigrant women in Calgary an opportunity to share their culture, recipes, and stories through food!

The program connects local participants with women from different cultural backgrounds to learn authentic home-style recipes while creating new connections in the community.

Those selected to lead a class will be paid for their time and ingredients, and the program is open to women from all cultures.

calgarynightmarket is bringing its Christmas Night Markets back to Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Hall for four evenings this November and December!

The indoor holiday markets will take place on November 21 & 28 and December 5 & 12, giving Calgarians a chance to shop local and discover vendors throughout the holiday season.

The market is currently looking for more local vendors to join the lineup, with applications now open through the Calgary Night Market website.

The Together Again Market by Fanciful Feast & Event | Calgary is coming to North Hill Centre on September 19, bringing together a curated lineup of local small businesses, makers, creatives, and young entrepreneurs for a community-focused shopping event.

Visitors can shop unique locally made products, check out photo spots throughout the market, and take part in two interactive workshops. Dora’s Bead Bar will also be hosting a Perler Bead Workshop where guests can create their own pixel art, with a portion supporting the Calgary Food Bank’s Fill the Fridge campaign.

Rakku-Con/Kpop Markets Calgary by 💫 JK CHARMS 💫 is returning to Calgary on September 26 for a full afternoon of anime, cosplay, shopping, food, and K-pop — and admission is completely free!

Taking over the Genesis Centre, the event will feature nearly 100 local vendors, a cosplay contest, K-pop Random Play Dance, stamp rally, raffles, door prizes, food trucks, and more. The first 100 guests will also receive a free gift from ToonKinz3D.

The Chinatown Lantern Festival by Calgary Chinatown is returning on September 11, lighting up the night behind the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre. The evening features 40 vendors, singing performances, and lanterns glowing from dusk into the night — capped off with a Fire Dragon Performance at 9:00 PM.

Free parking is available at Harmony Parking Lot after 4:00 PM (register your plate) and at Lot 214 at 114 2 St SW after 5:00 PM, right beside the venue.

Hong Kong Culture Day by ECHO Calgary is returning for its 5th year on September 12, with this year’s theme, “Tasting Hong Kong,” bringing a full day of Hong Kong food and culture to Calgary!

After welcoming more than 7,000 attendees in 2025, the festival is moving to a brand-new venue at The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland. Expect a variety of food vendors serving Hong Kong and Cantonese favourites, alongside cultural performances and family-friendly activities throughout the day.

There will also be a WestJet raffle giveaway, with one winner receiving a round-trip flight for two to any regularly scheduled WestJet destination. ✈️

4th Street Calgary BIA is returning to Calgary from September 23 to 27, bringing five days of budget-friendly eats and deals to 4th Street.

Participating restaurants will be serving up $10 food offers, with everything from French pastries and British pub fare to falafel, Korean fried chicken, pizza, Vietnamese eats, tapas, and more.

New this year, local retailers are also joining the festival with special offers and deals, turning 4th Street into a neighbourhood-wide celebration of local food, shopping, and businesses.
