Does anyone know why Harding University is a "Partnering Organization" for an evangelism group affiliated with the Christian Church denomination? We have asked, they declined to answer.

PLEASE SHARE TO MEMBERS OF CHURCHES OF CHRIST

A Message from the Publisher

For over 44 years, Bulletin Digest has been providing biblically sound church bulletin resources for churches of Christ and for general devotional reading. I purchased the company in 2013, and have operated it in that same vein for the past 12 years. We have enjoyed every minute of it!

Our main goal has been to provide doctrinally sound materials for congregational bulletin use, as well as sermon and classroom resources to encourage the teaching and preaching of God’s pure and simple word. However, during that time we have seen a lot of changes around us. Many of the publishers, colleges, and businesses associated with the church that we are all familiar with have drifted away from the biblical center. Others have remained sound, but had to close their doors. In particular, this has left sound churches without a news and information source to help encourage them to stay with the biblical faith. There have been attempts to provide this, but for various reasons these attempts did not succeed.

Beginning today, Bulletin Digest will endeavor to add news and information for churches of Christ to our already great lineup of resources. We feel uniquely positioned to do this, in light of our 30-plus years of personal experience in journalism, publishing, and media.

While our church bulletin resources will continue to be subscription based, all of our news services will be offered free to all readers. You will not need an account or any other credentials to read the news related to churches of Christ and spiritual matters we intend to provide.

News and information will be provided in multiple streams.

First, articles will be posted on our website at https://BulletinDigest.com.

Second, our Facebook account will have links, short articles, and other briefs for you to read and share.

Third, our YouTube channel will present news, commentary, and discussion on current happenings and things of which the New Testament church needs to be aware.

WE NEED YOU to help us make this work! Here’s what you can do:

1. Like and follow us on social media. Our main two information streams on social will come through the Bulletin Digest page and our Bulletin Digest YouTube channel. “Liking” all posts and sharing them with others will expand our reach and help us get sound news out there. Please subscribe to our YouTube channel. It costs you nothing, but will help us tons!

2. Visit the website to read full articles. We need traffic on our site to improve search engine ranking so that we come up in searches when people are looking for “church of Christ news” and other keywords.

3. Pray for us. This is not an easy task, and this is why past attempts have failed. Liberal sources have a veritable lock on widespread media, and we need the voices of the New Testament church to reach other sound congregations, to encourage, build up, and support in the effort to maintain biblical unity. To do this, we need God’s strength!

4. Send us news! Gospel meetings, VBS events, and lectureships are just the tip of the iceberg. Tell us what good things are happening in your congregation, we’d love to hear it!

We hope you will keep a watch on this space, as well as other information streams we will provide. The things we have mentioned here are just the beginning!

There are many troubling things coming down the road from change agents in the church, but there are also many encouraging and exciting things happening among doctrinally-sound congregations as well! We want you to know about those things, and to be uplifted in the Lord’s work.

May God bless you in your work for Him! Let’s get the word out!

Consider These Things About Jesus

• He who was the bread of life began His ministry hungry.
• He who was the water of life ended His ministry thirsty.
• He who was often weary is our rest.
• He who paid taxes is the king of the universe.
• He who was called a devil cast out demons.
• He who wept dries our tears.
• He who was sold for 30 pieces of silver redeemed the world.
• He who was led as a lamb to the slaughter is our Good Shepherd.

WILL OUR KIDS TEAR THEIR CLOTHES?
Matt Clifton, editor

When I was a kid in the 70’s, tearing your clothes was a horrible event. A mother’s admonition was, “Don’t tear a hole in your jeans, or I’ll have to patch them!” It was an accidental, tragic thing, usually occurring due to a child’s negligence.

In Bible times, though, tearing one’s clothes was an intentional act, signifying anguish or mourning. One example of this is found in 2 Kings 22:11-13. After Hilkiah the high priest found the lost Book of the Law, it was given to Josiah the King. When he heard the words of the book, he said, “our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us” (2 Kings 22:13). Josiah tore his clothes because of the negligence of his fathers that went before him.

Will our own children metaphorically tear their clothes some day? They will if we don’t teach them some of the things Josiah knew on that day:

1. The True Nature of God.
Josiah realized the people were in danger because of their negligence with God’s word. God is love (1 John 4:8), but He is also a God of justice and judgment (Romans 2:1-11). If we don’t teach our children the truth about the nature of God, someday our children will rend their clothes in agony, wondering why we didn’t remain faithful and tell them the truth!

2. The True Nature of Idolatry.
Among the forms of idolatry Josiah stamped out was the sacrificing of children on the altar of Molech (2 Kings 23:10). We have modern-day Molech worship going on today, except the babies are being sacrificed in the womb, on the altar of “self.” Will our children one day grow up and tear their clothes, wondering why we didn’t do more to stop this?

3. The True Nature of Salvation.
Josiah recognized that the nation was in great danger because they did not “do according to all that is written concerning us” (2 Kings 22:13). Some worldly people today say there is no need for obedience to the Lord in order to be saved, but the scriptures teach the opposite (Hebrews 5:8-9). Will our children tear their clothes someday, wondering why we didn’t help them know this?

Let’s make sure our children don’t experience the pain and anguish of knowing their ancestors dropped the ball spiritually. Stay faithful, and leave a good legacy for generations to come.
