Social media has brought people together, and it has torn lives apart.

On Social Media Victims Remembrance Day, we will remember the victims and inspire change through awareness, education and advocacy.

Please join me in Washington D.C. on June 23rd. RSVP link in bio.

SMVRD was founded by two of my heroes, Amy Neville and Kristin Bride, who both lost their sons on June 23, 2020, to social media harms. They have been fighting for our children ever since.

How Social Media Apps Hooked Teens at School | Internal documents show how tech giants grabbed children’s attention throughout the day, a strategy that schools say has undermined education.

Today, Meta and YouTube are asking a judge to erase a jury verdict that found them liable for the harm caused by the addictive design of their platforms - to a 20 year old named Kaley.

The companies claim they should be shielded from responsibility, but this case was never about individual posts or videos—it was about product choices they made, knowing those choices could keep young people hooked.

I’ll be in court following the arguments and watching to see whether the judge upholds a verdict that has already had major implications for accountability across the industry.

Update on my 14F Pinterest test account. More to come.

Meta announced new protections for teens today.

I’m still trying to figure out what they actually changed.

The update reads more like a press release than a safety improvement.

Here’s what we do know:
Teen Accounts was supposed to protect kids.
Independent testing found inappropriate, sexual content recommendations.
Safety tools failed.
Teens reported continued exposure to harmful content.
Meta lost major court battles exposing the dangers of its platforms.

And today’s response?

Another empty announcement.

At some point, we have to stop confusing public relations with child protection.

Meta doesn’t have a PR problem.
It has a product problem.

I created a Pinterest account for a 14-year-old girl.

Within 90 minutes and zero searches, Pinterest’s algorithm was pushing:
⚠️ self-harm content
⚠️ su***de imagery
⚠️ razor blades
⚠️ noose tutorials
⚠️ sample su***de notes
⚠️ videos romanticizing death

This isn’t hidden on the dark corners of the internet.
It is being recommended directly to a brand new teen account on a phone that had be reset to factory settings, using a VPN instead of my home internet.

For years, Pinterest has flown under the radar as the “safe” social media app.

After engaging in this research, I don’t believe that to be true.

This project has honestly shaken me. If this content affected me as an adult, I cannot imagine what it does to vulnerable young teens scrolling alone at night.

Parents need to know what’s happening on Pinterest.
And Pinterest’s leadership needs to fix this immediately.

Full investigation coming soon. Please share this video to warn other parents.

Parents are being told school-issued devices are safe and necessary for learning.

But alarming new data from tells a very different story.

In the latest episode of Scrolling 2 Death (link in bio), joins me to reveal what children are actually encountering on school-issued Chromebooks, iPads, Google Docs, Teams, and other school platforms — including violence, drug-related content, cyberbullying, sexual content, and su***de-related material.

Some of the numbers are shocking:
• Nearly 40% of students experience violent content
• 22% are seeing drug-related content
• Almost 11% see sexual content
• More than 7% experience su***de-related content

These devices are clearly unsafe — and research shows they do a WORSE job helping kids learn — so why are we using them so heavily?

[BREAKING] Meta Settles School District Case

All four social media companies have now settled the first school district lawsuit that was scheduled to go to trial on June 15.

Today, Meta reached a settlement agreement with Breathitt County Schools in Kentucky.

These settlements send a clear message: the companies know the evidence against them is powerful, and they are doing everything they can to avoid a public trial.

While we would have welcomed the opportunity to see this case argued before a jury, this outcome is still meaningful for the children and families in this rural community. The settlement ensures the district receives critical resources and support.

This is another sign that momentum is shifting. The fight is far from over, but accountability is no longer hypothetical — and the pressure on these companies is growing.
