Califax's thoughts on Destiny 2: Lightfall -
"This was the perfect opportunity for Bungie to revitalize the fanbase and show the world what Bungie is capable of. For as long as I have played Destiny 2, I was always a big fan of its lore and immersive world but this expansion failed to deliver what I hoped to be the preparation of the end of an era, an Avengers: Endgame type of scenario, instead we are met by a long but decent campaign which served more like a tutorial for Strand (the new darkness subclass) and nothing more, *SPOILER WARNING* no explanations of what the Veil is and its purpose, how Neptune and Neomuna were hidden from the eyes of the Witness, the origin of Strand, The Radial Mast, backstory for the Cloudstriders, the people of Neomuna and many more. We are all participating in the story as if we've understood and know what it is we're doing in the game. The gameplay and quality of life changes are spectacular, I have to give credit where credit is due but the lore and campaign storyline, things that really encapsulate me and tie me to the Destiny universe, just didn't hit that spot for me and fell disappointingly flat and short. I would definitely rate this a 67% L for Bungie and 33% W just because of the new subclass, gorgeous new areas, UI overhaul and quality of life changes.
P.S. Bungie could've just said that due to the anomalies and attacks done by the Witness towards the Traveler, the Veil, which is connected to the Traveler in some way, is also emitting strange energies across Neptune, these energies manifest as "strands" of psychic energy that disrupt the very flow of reality itself and us as paracausal beings are able to manipulate and harness these "strands" of energy. This is just my head cannon for the origin of Strand but I really want this to be true. Lol.
