Japanese producer Tanukichi returns to his label Night on Earth with a powerful new remix of one of his standout records, originally created alongside vocalist Bob Ranks and now reimagined by Tokyo drum & bass artist Maozon.

Tanukichi”s sound draws deeply from European free-party culture while increasingly pushing into drum & bass territory, blending rave intensity with contemporary bass music structures.

The remix comes from Maozon, one of Japan’s most respected drum & bass producers. Based in Tokyo, he has been active in the scene for over fifteen years, developing a distinctive production style shaped by Japan’s unique crossover between club music and gaming culture.

Many Japanese electronic artists grew up hearing jungle breaks and rave sounds inside arcade rhythm games, an influence that continues to inform Maozon’s fast-paced, precise sound design today.
That shared cultural background is part of what makes this collaboration feel so natural.

Around a decade ago, Tanukichi and Maozon first met casually in a Tokyo club, bonding over a mutual love for rave music. At the time it was simply a meeting between two passionate artists, but years later that connection has evolved into this long-anticipated collaboration.
Today both artists represent different corners of Japan’s evolving club culture, each bringing their own perspective to the global bass music conversation. With Maozon’s remix injecting new energy into Tanukichi and Bob Ranks’ original, the release captures a meeting point between reggae tradition, Japanese electronic culture and modern drum & bass, all brought together on Night on Earth.

Night On Earth Records presents the latest release with a heavyweight new remix of “That Rush,” reworked by Slovakian drum & bass producer L Plus 🇸🇰

Originally released to strong underground support, “Tanukichi Ft.Bob Ranks - That Rush” quickly became a standout moment in Tanukichi’s catalogue, amassing over 300,000 streams and earning its place as a dancefloor favourite thanks to its driving energy and bass-heavy identity. For this new version, L Plus pushes the track into full UK style DnB territory, reshaping the original into a high-impact club weapon while preserving the abstract edge and intensity that made the track resonate with ravers in the first place.

L Plus is widely regarded as one of Slovakia’s most prominent drum & bass producers, known for his bass-driven, dancefloor-focused sound. Recently entering a new creative phase, he has been working with labels such as LowDown Deep, Jungle Cakes, DubShotta, and Make Your Era, further expanding his presence across the global scene.

“That Rush (L Plus Remix)” signals a bold next step for the Night On Earth catalogue, a meeting point between Japanese and European underground culture, classic rave energy, and modern drum & bass sound design.
More than a remix, it stands as a statement of intent: music designed to unite scenes, hit hard on the dancefloor, and push forward the evolving sound of global bass culture.

Tanukichi new album “That Feeling” is out now!

This album is the culmination of a long run of singles released throughout 2025 and the result of two years of focused exploration, refinement, and risk-taking. A personal statement of how he presents himself as a producer, capturing his craft and fully stepping into his own sound.

Following the release of Higher with Mandidextrous on Ram Records in 2023, Tanukichi firmly entered the drum and bass arena with a pure focus and vision.
Since then, he has been pushing boundaries, absorbing the energy of rave culture while reshaping it through his own lens.

That Feeling reflects this journey, merging dancefloor impact you can hear on his music with a clear sense of direction and identity.
Whether you come from drum and bass, hardtek, or rave culture more broadly, this album is built to connect, move, and energize.

This album represents that vision in full force, opening new possibilities for the next generation of producers and DJs rocking the dance floor.
