I was born and raised in North Dakota. Memorial weekend we packed a lunch, flowers and our cousins in the car. We would then drive about 150 miles visiting our family graves in the countryside. A tradition I know some families still do today.

I have been going through my mother’s notebooks. This is a note in my mother’s handwriting. It is a note from my great aunt to my grand mother about the gift of a written letter. It is so thoughtful. It must have been written 35 years ago or more.
