iPhone 17 Air: Apple's Ultra-Thin Design Enters Production Phase

Apple is reportedly preparing for mass production of its upcoming iPhone 17 Air (or iPhone 17 Slim, as the name isn't finalized yet). According to DigiTimes, the phone has entered the "New Product Introduction" phase. This is when Apple shares its designs, sketches, and ideas with potential manufacturers to see if the product can be mass-produced. Manufacturers then review the design, plan production systems, and flag any issues, such as parts of the design that might be too difficult to make.

Since the **iPhone 17 Air is expected to be extremely thin, this phase could be more challenging than usual. Manufacturers might even suggest changes if parts of the design are impractical. The iPhone 17 Air could also set the stage for future foldable iPhones, thanks to its advanced display and ultra-thin design.

The iPhone 17 leak suggests that this device could become a technological pioneer, pushing the limits of design and functionality. While there’s no official word from Apple yet, DigiTimes has a good track record for industry news. However, the report should still be viewed cautiously, as plans could change.

Meta is testing paid verification for Instagram and Facebook for $11.99 per month on the web and $14.99 per month on mobile. A "Meta Verified" account will grant users a verified badge, increased visibility on the platforms, prioritized customer support, and more. The feature is rolling out to Australia and New Zealand this week and will arrive in more countries "soon". The new offering sounds a lot like Elon Musk's $8 per month version of Twitter Blue. Additionally, users who sign up for the service will get exclusive stickers for Stories and Reels and will also receive 100 free stars per month, or the digital currency you can use to tip creators on Facebook.

When Meta Verified launches in Australia and New Zealand this week, it'll cost $19.99 AUD on the web and $24.99 NZD on mobile. Social media consultant Matt Navarra later posted what appears to be a support page for paid verification on either the Australian or New Zealand-based version of Instagram.With that said, it's hard to ignore the parallels between Meta's new checkmark subscription and Twitter Blue, which Musk just relaunched a few months ago. Meta notes that businesses can't yet apply for a Meta Verified badge and that you can't change your profile name, username, birthday, or profile photo without going through the verification process all over again.
