Them: What did you do to while away the long hours on such a dreary day?

You: Well, I just went and signed Mark's Inane Campaign petition for this week.

Them: Wow that sounds like you are cool and heroic

You: Look, I'm just a normal person. Its not like I climbed up a crumbling building to rescue a baby that was about to fall from a balcony! Anyone would have done the same thing.

Them: Well, I still think you're amazing!

You: It didnt even take me long, just a couple of minutes. So then I went and watched the new episode on The Inane Campaign Podcast on YouTube.

Them: Did you subscribe to the channel?

You: Does the Pope S* #! In the woods?

Them: Errrmmm No, I don't think so.

You: Oh, yeah. Well I did subscribe anyway!

Them: Wow, that sounds incredible, sounds like it was the best non bank holiday Monday you've ever had?

You: Well it was one of them, sure, but try not to get carried away. There was once a Monday when I won three pounds on a scratchcard and the special in the canteen at work was lasagne, BOTH ON THE SAME DAY!

Them: Fair enough... its just that you are so awesome... How can I be more like you?

You: Well, just go and follow the links in the comments I suppose, then share them with everyone you've ever met immediately!

Them: OK I definitely will do that.

You: Good... now leave me in peace to enjoy this croissant!

For the last few years Big Ben has stood tall but silent, like one of the Guardsman at nearby Buckingham palace, whilst some mind numbingly expensive restoration work has been carried out, work that is rumoured to have cost nearly as much as the 'restoration' carried out on Joan Rivers, Michael Jackson and Priscilla Presley combined.
Perhaps understandably, some people in this country were not best pleased at all and considered this an expensive waste of money. So, I have an idea to alter the restoration plans slightly, in a bid to appease everybody and put a smile back on more faces than the four at the top of the tower.
Why not make Big Ben the World's biggest cuckoo clock? This would be both a tribute to one of the best imports to come from our European neighbours, and also a bit of fun to keep everyone entertained when the clock strikes. The opening sequence of the News at 10 would be much more exciting if a giant bird popped out of the clock face and majestically spread its wings over the Thames. It doesn't have to be a cuckoo either, we could make it a Swan, or an Ostrich, or Rod Hull's Emu.
Finally it would be a reminder of just how 'cuckoo' everyone has gone over the last few years with Brexit and bring the country back together, as we fly into the future with just a wing and a prayer!
