The Public Pension Problem
I’m documenting the investigation, concerns, and structural problems that have plagued the public pension funds. You can learn about the investigative team in this NBC article.
The investigation team state the following for their goals:
1. Improve transparency;
2. Reduce investment fees and expenses;
3. Identify any conflicts of interest, fiduciary breaches and wrongdoing and related damages;
4. Improve investment performance of the pension.
A forensic pension investigator was hired to provide clarity about the fund’s investments, the high fees it pays to big Wall Street firms and its lagging performance.
