ST. SCHO | November 25, 2025 — Sr. Mary John Mananzan OSB, the school’s directress, led a talk at St. Cecilia’s Covered Court about “Being Courageous and Vocal in Addressing Social Issues as Scholasticans,” mainly focusing on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC).

She highlighted the importance of students having social awareness, from cases of major corruption in our country to the abuse women go through daily. In order to resolve these issues, one must possess social responsibility and moral integrity.

With that, St. Scholastica’s Academy will participate in the VAWC 18-day campaign happening from November 25, 2025 until December 12, 2025. The movement aims to promote social consciousness through active participation, such as attending rallies that seek equal rights between men and women.

Finally, the talk ended as learners danced to “One Billion Rising” once more, where lifted voices move as one, called not only to witness the fight against injustices, but to embody the spirit—transforming awareness into action, and action into lasting change for the nation.

ST. SCHO | November 25, 2025 — After a week of camaraderie and triumphs, we kick off Monday with a general assembly held at St. Cecilia’s Covered Court led by the Student Council.

Kristen Cano, the SC President, showcased a heartfelt video from the “MaSSAyang Kaarawan” donation drive for the month of September and October. She emphasized that through the gifts of the birthday celebrants, the council can continue the spirit of giving throughout the whole school year.

It was then followed by an introduction to the Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) 18-day Campaign, with a theme, “United for a VAW-free Philippines,” which was highlighted by the Young Women's Club through a video presentation.

The students guided by the Dance Ministry danced the song “One Billion Rising,” which symbolizes the unity of all in order to end violence against women, where we are finally speaking out, standing up, and fighting for the rights of women.

To conclude the assembly, the school’s Academic Coordinator, Mr. Harold Velasco, announced the schedule in the following days and gave reminders regarding the claiming of student report cards.

The late Ramon Magsaysay once said, “We have a glorious past. Now we must build a future worthy of that past."

Yet, how can Filipinos build glorious futures when their government’s flood control projects can barely even hold their ground against truly powerful storms? How many more deadly typhoons and floods must the Philippines face before any actual action is taken? With contractors linked to ghost projects being allowed back into the construction business, the homes of all Filipinos are put at risk of being washed away, alongside their futures.
