Last week marked a big shift for our little crew. Both kids started summer class at their new school (Kinder and Nursery 2!), and honestly, it’s been a bigger adjustment for us parents than anyone else. 😂
It’s our first summer school run in years, and juggling two kids in a new schedule has my husband and me in full-on “what day is it?” mode. But honestly? The kids love it. Like, really love it. I haven’t seen them this excited to go to school, maybe ever.
After a “daycare” school year that left us second-guessing everything (and paying for extra classes just so they’d actually learn), seeing them thrive here feels like such a relief. We were bracing for bad news at the assessment, thinking one or both might need to repeat... but nope. They’re right where they should be.
So with this new routine comes a tiny pocket of freedom.
For the first time in ages, we get more than two hours kid-free, so we wandered around and found My Girl Milktea & Coffee City of San Fernando La Union
I love this place for so many reasons lol One of which is that it reminds me of the first Korean movie that made me ugly cry. 😂 But… also, they have great coffee (BEST matcha latte in town, too!), strong wifi, and while snacks are limited to lettuce chips, cookies and muffins, they’re right next to a fro-yo spot that serves Korean noodles and snacks. And you can just bring your food over and they don’t even charge you corkage for it. In fact, they even encourage it lol 🥰
Honestly, I haven’t felt like myself for a while…
Between work, mental health stuff, and my body just saying “Nope” lol, most days have been a slog. But those hours spent in this cafe was such a game-changer. I get so much done, and for a little while, life feels lighter again, and I don’t care if that sounds cheesy to y’all.
I know a new routine or a different space isn’t magically going to make me physically better lol. But sometimes, even a couple of hours and good coffee is enough to help you catch your breath. If you’ve got your own little reset, or a spot that helps you feel more like yourself (even just a little), I’d love to hear about it.😍
