LISBON — Joseph Boyer, the East Liverpool man sentenced to eight to 12 years for stabbing and injuring a woman in 2022 recently lost his appeal, with an appellate court affirming his conviction.Boyer, 53, formerly of Ogden Street, filed the appeal last year with the Seventh District Court of Appeals to challenge his conviction for felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, for the July 7, 2022 attack.

East Liverpool City Council’s Finance and Labor, Refuse and Recycling and Public Utilities/Franchise committees met Tuesday night to discuss multiple possible ordinances to forward onto council for approval including one for the purchase of two new garbage trucks, a claw truck and garbage fee increase. The proposal presented by Safety Service director Bill Jones for the purchase of the trucks and rate increase was put on hold to give the committee members more time to discuss the matter before sending it to the council as a whole for consideration.

ST. CLAIR — Police Chief Brian McKenzie told the St. Clair Township Board of Trustees during Monday’s meeting that the department received two reimbursement checks from the Columbiana County Prosecutor’s Office for drug seizures/forfeiture money for $1,112.40 and $229.50 drugs seized from users and dealers in the township. The money could be put into several funds for the police department such as drug education or law enforcement funds Fiscal Officer Deborah Dawson said. She said there are two or three funds, and it just depends on what it’s for. She has a checklist from the prosecutor’s office to help determine which fund the money goes to.
