CORDILLERA OPS NET ₱43.6-M MA*****NA PLANTS IN WEEKLONG CRACKDOWN
The Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR), successfully carried out a sustained weeklong anti-illegal drug campaign from April 26 to May 2, 2026, resulting in the destruction of ma*****na plants and related items with a total Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱43,679,000.00.
A total of 18 ma*****na eradication operations were conducted across the Cordillera region, with the bulk of operations recorded in Benguet, and additional operations in Kalinga and Mountain Province. These coordinated efforts led to the discovery and destruction of 183,034 fully grown ma*****na plants, 84,000 seedlings, and 30,940 grams of dried ma*****na leaves and fruiting tops.
Based on operational reports, Mountain Province recorded the highest value of seizure at ₱31.36 million, followed by Benguet with ₱10.71 million and Kalinga with ₱1.6 million, reflecting the sustained presence of illegal cultivation sites in identified areas.
PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., commended the dedication of field units and partner stakeholders, emphasizing that these accomplishments reflect the organization’s firm resolve in addressing the drug problem at the grassroots level.
“Patuloy ang ating pagtutok sa kampanya kontra ilegal na droga. Hindi tayo titigil hangga’t may mga plantasyon at aktibidad na sumisira sa ating komunidad. This is about protecting our people and securing the future of our youth,” PGen Nartatez said.
He also noted that these operations align with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which emphasizes sustained, intelligence-driven, and community-supported law enforcement efforts. The campaign also supports the broader peace and security thrust of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., aimed at building safer and more resilient communities nationwide.
As the PNP continues to intensify its operations nationwide, it remains guided by its commitment to deliver “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” ensuring that police service remains visible, responsive, and felt by the people.
