ITALY TRIP UPDATE: Enjoyed delicious crab pasta at Terrazza Calabritto in Naples. Now I’m in Positano where I’m on a quest to meet Italians. So far, most everyone is American. Kind of like visiting the Italian pavilion at EPCOT (although this is much more authentic 😉). I do think some of my fellow countrymen could do a little better representing the United States. Yesterday, I was in a store where a very loud American woman hollered “Where can I get gelato?” The salesperson told her and she responded “Gracias” which would have been a perfectly polite appropriate response in Mexico or Spain, but didn’t play as well in Italy. I give her points for trying, but I don’t think it would be too much for each of us to figure out how to say Hello, Goodbye, and Thank You in a country we’re visiting. Ciao!
