This weekend, the SBT Ireland USBK Championship is back at Bishopscourt for Round 6, incorporating the Neil and Donny Robinson Memorial Trophies, promoted by the Mid Antrim 150 Club. If June’s Round 5 at Kirkistown is anything to go by, we are in for some close racing across all classes.
Hubert Tomaszewski starts as favourite for the Moto One class, taking a double win last time out from Harley Smith. Oisin Walsh and William Graham swapped third and fourth last time, and will be pushing eachother again this weekend.
Alexander Rowan returns from the British Talent Cup at BSB to compete in the Moto 3 class this weekend, ready to take the fight to Matt Davidson, Buster Sherman Boyd and Robert O’Neill who filled the podium at Round 5.
The Supersport 300 class is set to be another tight battle, after Bailey Dobson and Max Wherity taking a win each last time out, with Jordan McGahon and Owen Everard taking podiums.
The Lightweight Supersport races were dominated by double winner Jacque Foley, beating Rory Creith, with Aidan Cleary and Brendan Ryan earning podium finishes.
The Sidecar class saw a wins for Declan & Karl Brady and Scobby Killough & Simon Mythen. Tony Willis & Ian Harron and Phillip Newton & Roy Werst took podiums in third place.
The Classics were absent at Round 5, but at Round 4, Andy Kildea took a double C1000 win from Ian Thompson. Brian Mateer took the C250 double, with podiums for Adam McKee, Brian Matthews and Malcolm Love. Nigel Moore took both C350 victories, with podiums places shared between Linton Irwin, Malcolm Benson and George Stinson. Sean Leonard won both C500 races, with podiums for Phil Lunney, Phillip Murphy and Andrew McCrum.
The Supertwin class saw dominance from Christian Elkin, taking a double win, with Dean McMaster and Finnan Wherity swapping second and third. Alex Duncan and Graham McAleese swapped first and second in the Production Twins, with Nicky Burns taking a double podium in third.
The Pre Injection races had two completely different outcomes, with Ronan Cosgrave and Jake Crean taking wins and Liam Concannon, Mervyn Griffin, Paul Demaine and Vincent Long all taking podiums, showing how competitive this class can be.
Korie McGreevy returns from injury to challenge double Supersport winner Graeme Irwin, who fended off Mark Conlin and Christian Elkin who swapped second and third last time. Rab McCauley and Don Gilbert swapped Cup class wins, with Ross Martin and Robert Waddell taking podiums. Joey Hennessy took both B Race victories, with Brett McCallen, Patrick Knee and Andy Farrell taking podiums.
The SBT Ireland Superbike Class saw Derek Sheils make a rare appearance, to seal a double win from Carl Phillips, making his first appearance in SBT Racing colours. Jonny Campbell took a double podium in third. Alex Duncan was the leading Cup rider in the first race, but unfortunately crashed out of the second, leaving Damien Carson to take the win. Jonathan McKelvey took a double podium with a second and third, being beat for second in Race Two by Jonny Allen, who was making his racing debut. Tom Nicholl and Darren Geraghty swapped first and second in the Superbike Cup B races, with Tam Oliver taking two thirds.
